No its not. Nor does it intend to be.

When you say “China is the next America”, I presume China is the next nation that would be the ultimate hegemony, ruling the world, and intervening in other nations.

However, anyone with a whiff of knowledge about China and its past would know that its not what China wants.

China’s goals are:

Becoming a sufficiently wealthy nation so that its citizens enjoy decent living standards.

Becoming a leader in innovation, automation in industry and science and technology in general.

Be economically and militarily powerful enough to guarantee absolute and completely unchangeable sovereignty in foreign policy.

Making certain that its interests remain unharmed in its immediate vicinity.

That’s it.

China has no interest in investing in multiple aircraft carriers and invading nations its people can’t pronounce, much less be able to point out in a map. It has no interest in spreading its culture, its governing system or its values abroad.

Infact, the leaders in the CCP have clearly said that there is nothing called a “China model” for development and nations need t find their own governing and economic system that suits them. And its a nation that takes its non interventionist foreign policy extremely seriously.

So, no. China doesn’t intend to be the “next” anything in terms of what other nations were/are.

China is NOT the US or the erstwhile Soviet unx, and has no interest in spreading anything or preaching anything to anyone, as I have clearly stated in my past answers.

China’s policy is inward looking and its priorities are vastly different than what casual observers project onto the nation.

Is China the next United States ?

No. The United States is the World Police turning into a Bouncer for Hire. China’s aspiration is to be the Cook.

The United States was catapulted into Superpower during WWII, where its entire industrial base was turned into arms manufacturing. It could have disarmed after WWII, but one thing led to another, that was never done, and so here we are, with Mr. Trump selling protection and blackmailing other countries for protection money.

China is concerned about getting enough to “eat”, and she has figured out that the cook never starves, no matter who else might be starving. So she’s been going around cooking up iPhones, trains, pots and pans, and bridges for other people, and, well, making a tidy sum out of it, and feeding her own family with cents on the dollar (‘cause she makes the stuff herself, so no restaurant mark-up).

So what happened next, was that Mr. Obama calling China “a free rider for thirty years”, because she doesn’t do anything for “global security”. But I think Mr. Obama failed to appreciate the fact that a cook can not look like a bouncer and going around cracking other people’s heads - who in the world will order dinner from a cook that looks like a bouncer? Basically if you want to be the cook for the world, you have to be (or at least appear to be) AMIABLE to everybody! China is friendly with both the US and Russia, both Iran and Saudi, both Israel and Palestine, all four different governments in Yemen, etc.

But if you are a bouncer, well, you’ve got to take sides (“Good vs. Evil”), show your muscle, and beat up somebody occasionally. And you need enemies, otherwise, how do you get customers coming to you looking for protection? Right? But if you are going to fight for the Saudis, the Iranians are probably not going to be buying iPhones and automobiles from you. C'est la vie.

So no, China is not the next United States, because a Cook doesn’t need any Enemies, only customers.

Absolutely not.

It is undeniable that the US will still dominate the world for a long time because of its economy(although it is experiencing a recession), military force, technoligy innovation and the most important thing——trust from the rest of world. So basically the US is still the only unipolarity in the world and this situation won’t be shifted due to the absence of other dramatic changes happening.

It seems that China is gradually becoming a great power but it still has far to go to become a super power which could take over America. For example, although the GDP of China has become the 2nd all over the world, poverty is still a defining issue in most rural regions or mountain areas. The huge gap between villages and cities is difficult to be filled.

Besides, in accordance with China’s consistent diplomacy China never wants to become the super leader in the world. Maybe it is related to our ancient wisdom and it says“木秀于林风必摧之”, which means if a tree is taller than any other trees in the woods then the wind will blow the tallest tree first.

So, China will not be the next America as she doesn’t have the power and the foreign policy she adheres to.

Even though China has been in the spotlight for years--first as the "factory of the world" and then as "bridge builder of the world"--its capacity for economic reform is in question, and its financial sector remains far less developed than that of the Western world. Growth is slowing, and economic inefficiencies abound, as reform of the services sector has been monumentally slow.

China's financial sector also fails to provide investors with consistently profitable real returns. Serious constraints associated with deeply emxded government involvement in the economy threaten the future of the country.

In addition, the spread of soft power alone does not guarantee the rise to superpower status. For one, we still have yet to witness the long-term viability of China's recent economic partnerships. Second, the presence of soft power abroad without strong domestic institutions threatens to undermine China's global presence. For example, China’s own lack of legal enforcement may not play out well along OBOR, resulting in corruption or project non-viability, particularly since many of the nations in which it will invest have poor legal frxworks themselves. Also China’s ongoing capital controls and lack of financial liberalization hinder internationalization of the RMB, which makes RMB financing of global projects less attractive.

The United States may be a lot of great things, but it’s entire foreign policy is subservient to corporate military interests. The number of wars it has started, the number of democratically elected governments it has helped overthrow, the number of dictatorship is has supported, and the number of military interventions and bombings it has done since WW2 is mind-numbing.

I think that China has studied some basic history on the decline of empires. The number 1 factor that lead the greatest empires to collapse was their overexentended resources. That led the Romans to decline, the ottomans, the British etc.

I’ll choose supporting the international bankers. The US is now a debtor rather than a creditor nation. Imports outnumber exports and little is manufactured in the US. This began when China’s isolation ended. You could thank Nixon for that but he was just doing what he was told.

The plan is to keep the US handy for insuring strife and conflict alive anywhere on the planet. It’s what they do best and have since 1950. Chins is amassing consumers and consumers pay. That’s revenue for the bankers and more people means more money.

Soooo….. Yes and no. China is becoming a financial source for the bankers, replacing the US. As for “policing” the planet, that’s still the main job of the US.

China already has over taken over the US as the largest Economy in the world as of December 2012. However, the US came roaring back in 2013. The US is #1 in GDP and China is #2 according to the IMF and World Bank. #3 Japan, #4 Germany #5 Great Britain and #6 India. However, based on Purchasing Power, China is #1.

History has a way of repeating itself. As a West Point graduate and studying Military Art* at the Academy, Japan under estimated a larger nation. The US which had a larger population and more manufacturing power. By the end of World War II the US had more boats, planes, tanks and industrial might.

Today, China is the larger nation we are under estimating with more industrial might and expansion power. EPA regulations limit the US manufacturers. The US has become a service society. The famous garment industry of New York is in China. Computer Chip production is in China. China, in a few years will control the industrial strength of the world.

CHINA’S SPACE PROGRAM

Most people are unaware of China’s huge Space program. They have already sent a spacecraft to the moon and made a claim to the territory on the Moon. As ridiculous as it sounds, they are targeting to lay claim to the entire Moon’s resources. And so far, no one has challenged their claim. Crazy, right?

What has happened is since the Democratic socialist agendas of Clinton and Obama canceled the Space Program and abandoned pursuit of the Moon. So then, the Chinese jumped in and said, Okay, since no other country wants the Moon or no one even wants to explore it, then we, the Chinese will. They view the Moon as a treasure gold mine of untapped natural resources.

So, China sent a spacecraft and laid claim to all the resources on the Moon and said “they own it.” Funny, right? Of course, the news media made fun of the Chinese claim of owning the Moon.

Kinda of like the liberal media made fun of the Cold War Russia threat gone and ridiculous Trump not being electable. Next thing you know Putin has a Spy ship parked next door in Cuba and Trump is elected to the Presidency. Oops!

US and MARS

In the meantime private industry turned to Mars with JPL labs in Passdena and Space X. The only thing NASA has going is the International Space Station with the Russians. And if the liberals mess that up with this Trump-Russia stuff we will fall way behind in the Space Resouces race as China will be inhabiting the Moon.

CHINA POWER EXPANSION

China is a large world power and has greater aspirations of expansion then we may realize and they are literally out-of-this-world. In the world of business, you might say, “China is definitely thinking Out-of-the-box”. Haha!

I hope the US does not do anything rash in the geopolitical climate. Let’s all keep watch on how this develops. Don't listen to the media because they just report and sensationalize news for TV Ratings.

Welcome to the world of Yellow Journalism.

We may all wake up one day and be astonished at the strength of China. Their control of global Real Estate will be immense, they will dominate in manufacturing and, without question become the Leader in Space Exploration and Advancements in Technology. They will “Bear”** Great power. And then we’ll think,
