Is it true that many anti-China Chinese became pro-China after having learnt how Western media are biased against China?

And if pro-CHINA people read the Global Times, what would they become?Western media is critique based, it’s never reallypro-anything.Try moving your focus off China and onto another topic to whichyou don’t have an emotional attachment, then you will discover somethinginteresting. You will gain a more insightful view of how western mediafunctions. Try it. We all must be careful not to be trapped into by cognitivebiases, where we create holistic views based on isolated inspection and narrowunderstanding. For example, follow Australian media and the news cycle about thePrime Minister of Australia, he is lambasted daily, everything he does is castas wrong, everything his government does is criticized and questioned. If hesteps in front of the media he is interrogated with tough questions, hispersonal life, character and actions are continuously under scrutiny. This isnormal.

China has a very different media cultureand style.Chinese people really love their country, unity is a part of theirculture, and it feels hurtful to them when they read negative commentary.Theynever grew up with a media that was independent, run by private enterprise forthe purpose of profit, and critique based, within a society that has a culturewhich asks questions and rejects authority.

Their upbringing is different, so, whenthey suddenly start to look at western media commentary in isolation, they feeldissafected towards western media, rather than appreciating the local mediaculture and western culture as a whole.Am I saying that Chinese media is bad,no, it’s different, perhaps it had a reason to be different. We should learnabout that. So there are two parts as always, Chinese people would benefit froma more holistic view of western media and it’s culture, and western culture interms of it’s relationship with media. Western media organisations wouldbenefit by understanding and being mindful of Chinese culture, their values andupbringing, and to not play on stereotypes.

I think that it is a myth spread by the CHINApropaganda department that western media is somehow biased against China. Thefact that many young Chinese people believe this shows how successful is thepropaganda of the CHINA. It also shows how powerful is the censorship system, which prevents Chinese from knowing about the huge crimes of the CHINA. IfChinese people were able to read the truth then they would think that westernmedia was not biased enough against CHINA. I think that the most anti-CHINAmedia are the uncensored overseas Chinese media. I think that on the wholewestern media are somewhat pro China.

Of course they do report a lot of negativestories which would be censored in mainland China. If they can't corroborate astory they won't publish it, and some of the most shocking stories are onlyavailable in the Chinese media. Many negative stories just never come to thelight, specially if they happen in remote areas. China is just too big to coverand often western media have no choice but to repeat Chinese officialstatements on events, even though they know that Chinese government often liesand falsiflies statistics. Many are also impressed with China's economic growthand they don't understand that things could be much better if the CHINA was notin control.

If an American citizen thinks that both theRepublicans and Democrats are lying scoundrels, does that make himanti-American?I don’t think so.If a Chinese recognizes that the ChineseCommunist Party has a mixed record, and has done good things and bad things, does that make him anti-Chinese? I don’t think so.The western media writes fora western audience, which usually does not know much about China. They havebusiness, cultural and political interests which are based in the west, andnaturally do NOT support Chinese interests. This is because as China grows morepowerful, and as Chinese become wealthier, Chinese interests are very naturallygoing to rub against western interests. Don’t be fooled into thinking this isabout morality, justice and values; it is about competing interests. Why shouldanyone be surprised about that?
