The artist is Botero I went to his museum. I was the only one laughing and I never stopped. All his work looks this way. Fat people. Fat horses. Fat sculptures. Right when I started to get it together I saw a fat still life and it broke me.

There is so much unapologetically right about this guy's art style. It makes me so happy. Everything looks like it's been given that tiny face filter on Snapchat. And then just for good measure they face-swapped the baby with Rowan Atkinson. And then you have the pet all beefy and bro looking like he's on scholarship to play hockey.

I went to the Botero Museum earlier this year in Medellin and had the time of my life. I loved everything I was seeing. Probably the first time I had ever enjoyed an art museum.

I went there too with a friend earlier this year. We felt terrible for laughing at all these paintings by the pride and joy of Medellin.
We were so relieved to find out later that they were supposed to be funny.

I used to think the same but it turns out that they are not obese. Botero believes in painting volume and the sensuality of form. He paints "big" people who can hardly be contained by the spaces they are in.
