The European Nations would attempt to trade with it due to close proximity. However the United States would view them as a threat and attempt to subvert it in the name of “democracy’’. China will attempt to hack into their infrastructure to learn what they can and replicate it. Other African states would act as proxy in the event of war between Wakanda and the West. If China keeps its current history, it would not be a military threat but may act as a potential ally. Its more than likely that Wakanda would be the first nation outside of the victors of WW2 to take a permanent seat in the UN Security council.
Vibranium would be the world’s envy and the cause for any future conflict. Its inevitable for the US to stay peaceful towards Wakanda. Just like the Worlds oil Produces, american corporations will attempt to steer US policy makers to get first dibs on future exports from Wakanda.
Russia would be harder to pin down. Putin would take a middle road since Russia hasnt had interest in Africa since the cold war other than Egypt. Since Wakanda is technologically advanced it hard for them to need conventional weapon

Im not aware of the energy self efficiency of Wakanda but due to its location in the East Africa region, Middle East oil produces will have the potential backing of Wakanda, deminishing US role in the region. The US would more than likely pivot to the Gulf and creating a semi Cold War. The answer to this question is going to largely depend on which version of Wakandan (Wakanda) technological history you are referencing. As that has changed over time within depictions of the country.
If we go with the earlier depictions, where advancement was largely a byproduct of T’Challa (T'Challa (Earth-616)). Where, after the death of his father (T'Chaka (Earth-616)), he studies abroad learning all he could from the Western world.
To use everything that he had learned to single-handedly turn his country into the powerhouse that it later became. At least in the area of comic book super-science.
This would be the most difficult version to judge. As it would be safe to assume that they had items made out of vibranium (Vibranium). Shields. Spears. Blades. Things that would be found in more tribal cultures.

So, depending on the time period this question is referencing the answer would also be different. Rome or the Middle-Ages? Now if you are talking about a more modern interpretation of their history… then that is completely different. As they would have had a much more storied history with higher technological achievements. With pressure sensitive devices,referred to as Panther’s Teeth (Panther's Teeth), as early as the 5th century.
Meaning that their level of technological sophistication would have greatly surpassed the outside world’s long ago. Which in this version it did.

In this version of their history, if placed in a more realistic setting, they most likely would not be threatened by other world powers. As they have had much longer to progress technologically. With the outside world playing catchup to them. Combine that with their virtually exclusive control of vibranium, and I think that not only would they have the military means to protect their country, but also the financial. As selling the material in small quantities, like they do in the comics, would be very lucrative.
Pretty much, in this version, they would be in a much more advantageous position than other countries with rare, conflict minerals. As they would have the technological might, militarily, to dictate their own terms to the world. They would have a rare, powerful resource… that they controlled. Almost exclusively. Plus, they have the luxury of complete secrecy. The rest of the world wouldn’t know how one-sided the fight would be until it happened. Most likely creating a huge powerful sense of shock and awe.
So short answer,, it depends on what version of their history. Early version is not so good for them. Later is great.

Wakanda is somewhere in Central Africa, so it is found by Belgium. After a few skirmishes and some scouting, Wakanda deduces that the Belgians are dicks to the Africans. Beginning of the Belgian-Wakanda war. The Wakandans distribute weapons to the Congolese and win several major battles. They launch an offensive clearing through Kasai and march to Leopoldville. The Belgian army is still using Winchesters. The battle is one-sided. Congo is absorbed into the new Wakandan Empire- at least, that is what would happen if the King was an imperialist.
Wakanda is not an imperialist state, it is satisfied with simply sharing technology and trading. Congo quickly becomes the foremost power in Africa, and Belgium is powerless to claim it.
Wakanda and Congo establish formal relations with the European powers. They decide that Europeans are savages, and Congo invades German East Africa in 1914. Wakanda stays neutral the entire war. With Germany defeated, the new world power, the Congolese Empire, gets to keep all of Germany’s African colonies.
During WWII, Congo defeats the Italian army in Ethiopia and now controls nearly all of Africa. Wakanda is not even a concern anymore. However, during the Cold War it gradually releases it’s grip as de-colonialism becomes popular.
By 2018, Africa is extremely important still, with amazing technology and immense resources.

The same way they do in the movies, by ignoring them. Wakanda is an isolationist state that has survived and avoided the fate of other African nations being colonized or falling to civil war by having an invisibility cloak and an abundance of resources that makes trading with outsiders counter productive. They dont interfere with Western resource exploitation, the slave trade, or political manipulations in Africa and that is how they survived. With their technology they could overpower a Western nation but we have no reason to believe they could survive nuclear fallout even if they could shield the blasts impact, so a fight with the West is still MAD.

If they did decide to reveal themselves it would be the way T'challa did at the UN in a world wide broadcast because they realized hiding was no longer viable. This would forever shatter the myth of white supremacy, and simultaneously earn the ire and validate all Afrocentric blacks who would now have proof of their peoples superiority over the West and proof of the ugly truth of an aloof priviliged group of African nobility who had been indifferent to the plight of other blacks under Western expansion while they prospered, which isnt too different from actual history.
They would probably use their technology to uplift the rest of Africa to make ammends and reduce local hostilities and begin trading and influencing Western nations to do their bidding and the dynamic of the West using their wealth and technology to manipulate the thirdworld would be reversed for a very long time, but I’m not sure how it would effect China. The transition wouldn’t be immediate and they would have to compete with nations like Israel for influence over the U.S. but it clearly shows they are able to infiltrate the West and they would be well positioned to make the most of their advantages having a long time to study them while the West has had none to study them.

I think all nations would collectively poop their pants then scramble to figure out how they could get a piece of the Wakanda pie before the others. Wakanda is very advanced but not really a large nation compared to US, Russia, or China.
It does have advanced weapons but realistically they don’t have a lot of experience in actually using those weapons against a hostile nation state, and we’re unsure if they have nuclear weapons but it doesn’t appear so. They don’t export anything, so not sure what commodity they would have apart from the vibranium and other tech, but then again those are invaluable. Just the medical science advances alone would be worth starting a war over.
So…I think eventually someone would try to take over Wakanda, one way or other. And then the Avengers would have to come in to save the day!

But back to the topic of only Wakanda being real--like I say Wakanda has incredible tech but they have never been in a war, have they? Nobody even knew they were an advanced society, so they've never needed to defend their country against invasion. Their military has no relative experience in that scale of combat, that we've seen.
During the inter-tribal fight scene at the end of the Black Panther film, aren't they ground fighting hand-to-hand?
How many aircraft have they got? Do they have nukes or missiles? How many? Russia has, oh.
I am just saying, I don't know if any country would try to take over Wakanda, but my assumption is that if anyone did try, Wakanda would soon firm up the military alliances they already have (aren't they part of the UN?
I know they ratified the UN-backed Slokovia Accords…but again, now we're dipping back into the MCU!) Such alliances would inevitably lead to their volunteering to share their tech with allies, thus altering the global balance of power, thus causing the other sides to try harder to steal vibranium and Wakandan tech…thus leading to World War 3!!!

World powers don’t ordinarily try to start wars with nations that are more powerful than them if they’re being peaceful and kind to them. They generally only fight them if they’re threatening their way of life, or ironically if they’re fresh meat and have something that they want. They certainly have something that the world wants, but the world is in no power to take it from them.
I’d imagine that we’d thrust them into a bigger position in the UN, ask for them to give more aid across the world, implore for them to trade more, and many of our graduates and young people would be itching to work, intern, or go to school there. It would also become a huge tourist destination. America might also implore for them to get involved in the peacekeeping missions across the world, and ask for them to rebuild the Middle East.
Wakanda’s intentions would be noble, but they’d soon find themselves in over their heads, and before long, they’d find themselves torturing, sending drone strikes, and blowing up Mosques by accident in the name of “democracy.”

It wouldn’t have ever gotten into its current state.
Wakanda and its vibranium was known about as early as WWII, with Captain America traveling there to combat Nazi infiltrators. Considering how spectacularly versatile vibranium is, the rumors of its existence wouldn’t have stayed as just rumors the way they did in the comics. Allied agents would have been sent to research the material in order to gain any advantage possible against the Axis and a still undeveloped Wakanda be easily occupied to secure the world’s only source of vibranium.
The Allies wouldn’t even need any pretense of setting up democracy or anything. Both Iraq and Iran were invaded and occupied because of possible Axis leanings without any other explanation. Even after the war, it would be hard to see the UK, France, or the US even considering letting go of such a strategically important resource. They would find some way to squash Wakandan independence, even as the rest of Africa decolonized. The name T’Chaka would enter the public consciousness next to Patrice Lumumba as just another sad example of Western meddling in African affairs.

This is a very interesting question, and Ill do my best to answer it.
Wakanda, as I recall, is a monarchic, technologically advanced society, with a rich supply of a rare material.
Russia, China and the US will openly try to both get them to become allies with them, as well as try to Wakanda against their opponents. However, considering the potential use of Vibranium I believe the following scenario likely.
Wakanda being a monarchy, NATO begins propaganda showing the “opressed” citizens of Wakanda. Organizing a coalition, they invade Wakanda on a mission of “liberation”. If they win, they divide Wakanda up, and drain it of resources like a vampire on a body. If they lose, well…Wakanda has the technology to run a large Empire like the US or Russia. Wakanda may push the advantage and take nearby lands and attack world superpowers. Thats another thing i forgot to add. Being the strongest power in Africa, it is also possible that Wakanda can forceful annex other African territories, or they wish to be added to Wakanda.

Just like the British and USA owns Goldmines in South Africa, they would be owning the Vibranium. I am pretty sure the Wakanda King would refuse to sell it to them so they would paint him as a terrorist who's building Vibranium weapon, just like they did to any leader of a country who has a natural resource they want.
For the people of Wakanda it would be too bad because US government would be waging wars after wars.
As for China n Russia I think they would be aiding these poor Wakandans after a great aftermath where children n women of Wakandans are left in savaged conditions after the American troops have killed their husband n fathers who were serving in the military.
Probably USA would be the most richest country in the world through blood n deaths of Wakandans like they are rich through the deaths of innocent world leaders, death of innocent women n children, death of their own solders who think they fighting for the right cause.

Africa - and not only Africa - is filled with countries rich on resources that are very poor and corrupt. Why should Vibranium bring different future to Wakanda that oil, gold, diamonds etc. brought to other African countries that are rich on resources?

Looking at world history, when the French and English came across the Zulu tribe during their expansion period, they couldn’t stand the Zulu’s beating them with spears and shields and tactics that they couldn’t accept from “savages”. So what followed was loss after loss with exaggerated excuses for the losses, (Amount of ammo used in one battle that would’ve been hard for modern military units to lug to a fight let alone the British in the 1800’s.)
Wakanda would have been forced to destroy countries like Germany who would not stand for “inferiors” existing that they couldn’t control.
Sad but true. We have people on the planet who consider you a threat if you are too strong for them to push around, esp if they think it is their God given right to do so.
Imagine the US telling Wakanda that they can’t have weapons of mass destruction because America doesn’t trust them because they worship Baast instead of the Christian God?
Pfft. “We’d be at war”
And we would lose.

People are answering this question like Wakanda wouldn’t be “advanced enough” to handle the world during WWII.
Don’t know where that came from,… they have existed in Comic Canon for THOUSANDS of years before ANY of the other Super powers existed and are written to ALWAYS be leaps and bounds ahead of outside civilization.
So they don’t need any essentials,… the best the world could offer is creature comforts and luxuries.

There is a country in Africa called the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It has unimaginable amounts of mineral resources. It is one of the poorest countries in the world. Just because you have valuable materials doesn’t mean you advance independently of the rest of the world. Not only that, but the country is a dictatorship and doesn’t trade with the rest of the world, and they don’t let vibraniam out of the country. Pop quiz, why did Europe advance faster than the rest of the world? Luck, trading and gunpowder. Not because they had access to large amounts of rare and incredible recrources.

If Wakanda existed in the real world well no one would want to pick a fight with them. The idea that they would have been conquered by the west is nonsense.
The easy way to explain why is to use a scientific advance that happened in both Wakanda and the real world that we have a date for the splitting of the atom. It was first done by Rutherford in 1917 we told Wakanda did it 100 years earlier in 1817. This means that Wakanda is at lest 100 years ahead of the rest of the world. This means the Europeans attempting to attack Wakanda in 1881 and 1914 would be going up against tech that the equivalent of modern day armies they be wiped out before they even realize that they are in a fight.
It gets even more of mismatch as time goes by as in current Marvel comics Wakanda is an interstellar empire and has been for sometime see Marvel Legacy.

Warande in its entire history had never been conquered.
It didn't get involved with the rest of the world but it didn't let the world in either.
So if the fictional wakanda had existed in the real world, the same would have been true. The west would not have invaded it. It would have beaten back the Germans, and China and the US would know not to fuck with it.
If the fictional wakanda was as advanced as it was in the comics, it would have parked a nuclear sub in every very major river in China the US and Russia, ready to attack if need be.
