COOL depends on the governance really. The next 15 years will be the key. If Congress comes to power in 2019, it'll show that most Indian voters are fools and we'll take a hundred or more years as you said. But with good governance, like the current one, we'll probably reach superpower status in the next 30 years. Our economy is already quite large and in the next 15 years we'll overtake US's GDP. Following that, we'll increase the gap between our and US economy even more. Another important thing that'll happen in next 15 years is that our dependence on imported oil and gas would decrease as we'll be going solar. So that'll cut down the import bill by 100-300 billion USD and also stop the variations in the economy due to the variations in oil prices. While in terms of military, even though we are the 4th strongest military in the world, having most of our equipments imported is a huge drawback. We are currently moving towards indigenization on a huge scale. Probably in next 12-15 years, we'll reach a stage where we'll manufacture over 80% of the defense equipments we need in India. Following that our military will become very strong too. Also not to forget that with an 8% average growth in economy expected and more Indians paying taxes, our defense budget will increase phenomenally too. 
So yeah, really depends on how committed the government is. Need the government to put a high amount of resources in indigenization of military and electronics, in solar energy, in road, rail and water connectivity while keeping free from huge scams.?
