The US probably won’t care, but even if they did, it’s none of their business and would be their fault anyway.
Trumps trade wars will only have the effect of losing badly needed trading partners. It’s not like the US still has a huge manufacturing base anymore. The US needs China far more than they need us.
And Mexico and Canada have made no secret of looking for other trading partners, given that the current compromised US is not trustworthy anymore.
China has a unique way of making friends with trading partners; instead of dropping bombs on them like SOME countries, they give those countries technology and engineering projects. Their civilian technology is more advanced than the US in computer science, architecture, transportation and infrastructure.

美国可能不会在乎，即使在乎，也不关美国的事，也可能是美国的错。
川普的贸易战只会让美国损失掉自己急需的贸易伙伴。美国现在的制造业基础不再雄厚。比起中国需要美国，美国更需要中国。

Why do you think it as influence? Why can’t it be called a closer tie on trade? Why does it have to be politics in your mind when it comes to China?

China already tried that, but was soundly driven back by the Americans.
In 2014, Chinese president Xi Jinping visited Mexico. The visit was a success and China was ready to embrace Mexico as its strategic partner. But the honeymoon was shortlived. Soon in November 2014, Mexico announced China the winner to its high speed rail project. It was supposed to be the first high speed railway in the Americas, marking a new era of Mexican development. China was willing to provide the know how, as well as technology transfer and funding, to their Mexican friends. The great simpolic significance caused extreme American pressure, from congress to news media, all of Mexico suddenly appeared to turn hostile toward trains overnight, citing transparency concern or what not, which forced the Mexican president to cancel the project right after announcing China as the winner, infuriating China.
The incident caused Chinese scholars to view Mexico as a semi-American colony, and Chinese businessmen to see it as an untrustworthy partner which doesn’t honor signed deals. Thus there have been no big Chinese investment in Mexico ever since. Now with Nieto gone, let's see if anything changes.

It is not cheaper to fly. High-speed train tickets are usually 50% of plane ticket prices in China, even when the company is trying to recover initial investment.
It wasn't the refusal of the project that angered the Chinese, China never had the least intention to force such project on anyone, since they, you know, don't have the power to do so. China was angry and disillusioned that the project was rejected after it was inked, and that the project was rejected only because the builder was Chinese. I mean, let's not kid ourselves, it really never had anything to do with the railway thing. If Mexicans are really against railway, ask them what if Trump decides to build a railway connecting Mexico instead of a wall?
