Why do other countries can’t seem to trust china’s intentions?

think that article is full of shit because none of it is correct. In particular, I know Canada very well and we have particular corporations that are connected to our national security, as loosely defined as it is and the government has last say in denying a sale on these grounds by reviewing any foreign takeover for “national good”. Understandably, this is a bit odd from one of the main “free market” countries in the world but at the same time there are limits to a free market and that is commonly known in Canada.
The usual types of technology that Canada protects are:
• nuclear
• weapon systems
• space
• food security
We won’t sell our nuclear corporations to foreigners (but to our own oligarchs that’s okay, we’re allowed to screw with ourselves). Weapon systems is pretty obvious; what country would sell their military hardware to foreign ownership? Space is a combination of national pride and also the ability to control what we build when we want it. Food security is well, people gotta eat food so yeah.
We don’t discriminate on this and we don’t see ill intent from the Chinese. China has reworked multiple deals that Canada initially denied on “national good” grounds to ensure it was beneficial for Canada. Requirements were items such as the composition of the board required 50%+1 Canadians, that the workers hired must all be Canadian, that the company wasn’t allowed to move all their money out of the country and into China etc. When China complied, the deal went through. So, China is fully capable of making purchases; they purchased a significant portion of the oilsands in Alberta.

Because the world’s leading superpower position is a position which can only be earned through winning a world war, and it cannot be won through peace and economic development. When a nation wins a world war, its gets to set the rules the rest of the world lives by.
That is the brutal truth about foreign relations.
China has not yet fought and won that world war.
President Trump feels that the rules are no longer in the US’s favor, and wants to change them so that they are, according to his interpretation of what American interests are.

Because China is big, rising, and painted as a threat by the US. If the US thinks China is dangerous, what is a small country to think?
I also think there is a thread of racism against China. China is not a white race.
