That's just America. I've seen a few Chinese/Korean dramas but they mostly use actors in their teens/early 20s for high school dramas. They use teens to late 20s actors for college settings.

When I live in China shows were about poor people struggling and dramas were dramatic but it really taught me to have good morals. I remember show about a girl getting ditched by a mom so she can marry a rich dude. The girl grew up and looked after the family which adopted her. The dad was a alcoholic and the son a no good punk. The show made me cry even tho I am a boy. Now most shows in China are copy pasta of Korean shows that mostly show the lives of the .001% while the rest of us make 30 dollars a day and trying to stretch that to Feed our family. Now shows are materlistic propaganda. I still have a lot of DVD of old shows.
