This is probably just a chance in the sampling of people that I know, but I know a few Chinese people who have this but I don't know anyone from the UK who has it.

Hopefully people can be civil, I'm not particularly interested in responses along the lines of Mao, Muslims, Communism, Tienanmen, Taiwan, etc.

It is definitely more common in China. The Chinese word for Trypophobia, 密集恐惧症, is much more commonly known than the English word is in America. In fact, I learned the Chinese word before I knew the English word.

密集恐惧症肯定是在中国更普遍。“Trypophobia”中文为“密集恐惧症”，而后者比其英文版本更为人熟知。事实上，我本人就是知道“密集恐惧症”早于“Trypophobia”。

My wife has it. Sometimes she'll get triggered by artwork in a gallery or at other random times I have to warn her if I catch a potential trigger before she spots it.

I have it. But I was born in HK and never been to mainland and had normal upbringing. Apple Watch app sextion screen give me quiver and a chill down my back and I was wondering why. Small closely packed circles in a certain pattern reminds me of infectious skin disease. So I won’t click the lix as I stumble on similar images before. Not sure why I have it. As a kid I went to a camping trip to a natural unmanned beach. During sunset I went to play with water by myself and followed the low tide unknowingly as water receded. I saw many holes on the beach felt it was odd but walked right pass them. By the time I turn around between me and the camp there are thousands of crabs marching my way to the sea. And i’m only human being in sight. The sheer scale of them was quite terrifying. I ran for my life through them back to the camp while try not to step on to them and get my toe attacked. Does life experience play a role? But I’m sure it was the fact that my association of the pattern with infectious disease that gave me the most fear. Not my association with crabs.

我就有密集恐惧症。但我是在香港出生，且从未去过大陆，在正常的环境中长大的。苹果智能手表应用界面的圆形图标（见下图）会让我身体发颤后背发冷，而我想知道自己为什么会有这种反应。按一定标准排列的小而密集的圆圈会让我想到有传染性的皮肤病。所以我不会点开楼主给的那个链接，因为我之前意外有看到类似的图片。不过不知道为什么我有密集恐惧症。小时候，我曾去一处天然的无人海滩露营过。日落时分，我独自一人去海边那儿玩水去了，然后不知不觉海水渐退，慢慢退潮了。这时我看到沙滩上有很多小洞，顿觉奇怪但还是径直走了过去。等我想回去转过身时，我和扎营的帐篷之间有数千只螃蟹朝我的方向爬来向大海进军。视线开外只有我一个人。螃蟹的数量之多规模之大简直令人胆战心惊。我穿过它们拼命跑回营地，同时小心注意脚下，争取不要踩到它们被蟹钳夹到脚指头。这段生活经历是我有密集恐惧症的原因吗？但我可以肯定的是，正是因为这种会让联想到传染性皮肤病的画面套路最让我害怕。并不是螃蟹本身的问题。
