故宫博物院首次于晚间向大众开放，门票瞬间一抢而空 [美国媒体]

(CNN) — For the first time in 94 years,Beijing's Palace Museum, commonly known as the Forbidden City, opened its doorsto the public after dark -- and with spectacular results.

Holding a Chinese national flag in herhand, Zhang says she appreciates the government's gesture.

"Not everyone can come. I heard it isextremely difficult to get the ticket. It is truly an honor to be granted thisspecial privilege."

"We want to pass on that tradition andlight up the ancient architecture to give people more festival experiences.Tonight is a trial. If the feedback is positive, there will be more events likethis."

The feedback has been quick. Discussion ofthe Forbidden City's new look lit up social media following Tuesday's display.And, unsurprisingly, there's been some criticism, too.

With the museum being a cultural iconfeatured countless times in Chinese TV series and novels, news of the eveningvisits led some enthusiastic fans to let their imaginations run wild.

These include the Meridian Gate exhibitionhall, the Gate of Supreme Harmony, the East Wall and the Gate of Divine Might.
