I’m sure your answer will be nope. I doubt any of you will think they’re in any way similar because it true they’re not. Yeah, I agree that people can have mixed features but that doesn’t mean they’re mixed or they’re similar to each other.

It’s the same reason that all Europeans look alike. You can possibly make some distinctions between the Mediterranean Europeans and Northern/Central/Eastern Europeans due to the Arab settlement/influences in the regions of Spain, Southern Italy and Greece. When a Chinese young person meets another, the first thing they say is “Oh, you look Japanese” or “I thought you were Korean” or “You have dark skin, like a Malaysian!”. However, Chinese people insist they are good at telling where people are from by their appearance.

Personally, I think some people look distinctively Chinese, Korean or Japanese (perhaps 10 to 20%), but most people do not, and nobody would be able to recognize where they are from.

You know, this is like asking what’s the difference between Swedes, Norwegians and Finnish, or between English, French, and Germans.

Some differences exist - especially because Japan is an island, while China is huge and has had various groups within, while Koreans are in the middle.

There’s some differences if you talk statistically, but Korean actors commonly play Chinese or Japanese characters, as do Chinese and Japanese actors - IN THEIR OWN countries (cause of course any of them will be called on to act as ANY East Asian in an American or European film)

They tend to look similar one another for the same reason that Mexicans, Guatemalans, and Nicaraguans all look similar, or all Northern Europeans, or West Africans have similar features to one another. These groups of people all intermary within their respective regions. East Asians share more recent common ancestors than they do with Southeast Asians, Tibetans, Mongolians, etc. and are thus more closely related to one another.

Although Koreans, Japanese, and Chinese look alike, they each do have very distinct and subtle differences between each other.

One reason why they are similar is how humans migrated across Asia. As early humans traveled into asia, they first settled into China, Korea, then Japan. The same can go for other regions such as Europe, where migration patterns are also similar to Asia’s.

But you can just say that they look alike because they're are from East Asia. Just like how many people from Europe are alIke because they generally live in Europe.

Even though, be careful because each ethnicity has they're own distinct and sometimes subtle differences between each other.

Because we all have similar genetic make-up, albeit there are minor differences.

So I guess we’re all related to a certain point, but diverged and mixed with different groups. For example, the Japanese have mixed with the Ainus.

You are misunderstanding the concept about the word ‘genetic differences’.

The concept ‘genetic differences(:mutation)’ when we use it for talking about ethnicity is, just related with very short part(usually one~ten) in DNA. but as you know it, DNA is very long sequence.

So, it doesn’t have the information about the really important other substantial part at all.

Koreans and Chinese have similarities, but not Japanese. I have noticed Japanese having more oval faces, smaller builds compared to others. Japanese women have a good fashion sense as well. They know how to pair bags , glasses with their clothes.With Chinese women, you could see sneakers and Gucci bags.

I think Koreans have gotten really tall over the years.They tower over Chinese, Japanese and maybe Europeans.

Sometimes they can look similiar but overall I can tell the difference between Chinese and Japanese from Koreans. Probably something intangible only East Asians can notice about each other. It's not always accurate though. And overall, it's not polite to assume!

So…what are we talking here.

Are we saying that the majority of the ancestors of today’s Japanese, majority of the ancestors of today’s Koreans, today’s Han, etc…all one people in ancient times?

I will once again say “no”.
