The “Made in China” brand has long stood for quantity not quality, for a low price rather than a top notch product.

If you run a business or not, but if you do and when you buy from supplier, you have a specification that you ask your supplier to meet, then negotiate price for the goods with those specification. Serious businesses even hire auditors to make sure specification are met and suppliers are not cheating. Apple iProducts were the prime example of quality stuffs made from China. 
So when you get cheap "made in China" stuff sold by Walmart, Target, Sears etc., don't you think you should take a serious look at who set those cheap standard/specification first? Do you think those big retailers are going to pay for bunch of goods that don't meet their specification? Of course not.
So understanding that, should you blame China for making cheap stuff, or your very own American business, CEO's for setting low standard to buy those on the cheap and reap big profit?
One thing I'm really puzzling is why in the world US still import so called Chinese cheap, unreliable and claimed poisonous goods by those big US retailers? Helped by importers, banks, and worse of all, majority dare to put their own brand name on the products and able to made huge profit? Were majority of the buyer, the American consumers, stupid or have mental problem?

Japanese products were once considered inferior junk as well until suddenly, they were making products that made ours look like junk, particularly our automobiles which forced us to up our quality to even be able to compete.

If China was not occupied by a northern minority called manchu in 1644 and ruled for more than 200 years till 1912, China will be much better Country now. I think Chinese traditional culture (Han Chinese culture) is the reason why China is developing so fast. Minority rulers killed elites and slaved most chinese people. And tried turn us into slave thinking, coward and self deceiving ethnic. And China was lost in 1700 to 1900, and so we were quite vulnarable to western culture back then. We felt so humble and learned nearly every philosophy or ideology from the west. And I guess finally communist won.
However, We realize communist is no more than a ideal world. We find our own culture sparkled. Now even we are a socialist country, but we realize we should develop in our own Chinese way, and look for answers in our history. I guess that's our own renaissance.
We have communist party, but it's just a name. No different than any other country.

i wonder if the writer went to any of Asian countries beside China @_@ 
made in CHINA means= disposable, good for short period of time, alternative for the mean time, cant buy original branded items, KNOCK OFFS, Smuggled goods, no money so ill buy this #$%$, christmas lights burns houses, melamine on milks, toxic substances in toys and many more. I dont see any synonym of what the writer mentioned about Made in China.

I just paid a relative lot for thermals NOT MADE IN CHINA. I have NEVER had anything made in china last- EVER. This article is an absolute lie. I will put the quality of any product they make against any western country. The stitching on clothing as an example, strings hanging out everywhere, and even buttons are not properly attached. Chinese electronics have a 1/5 failure rate right from the box, and every car that manufacturers have used chinese parts have a dismal reliability rate. I have gone out of my way to avoid anything made or grown in china, and I am around 95% china made free, and I love knowing what I buy is not going to break tomorrow.

Several years ago when I was in Guangzhou, I bought a cheap copied I-phone product for fun. It lasted not even a few months. Did I complain about it? No, I didn't becoz it was a cheap product anyway. 
Then early last year, I bought a Lenovo phone. Still working today but it's camera is not clear (from day one) & a few functions are not no longer working properly after I dropped the phone several times. So I bought myself another phone, a Huawei Honor 7. It costs double the price of that old Lenovo phone but it's a great phone. So far, so good. Of cos it's still not comparable to that of IPhone 6S or Samsung Note 5 but then at less than half the price, what do you expect?
Conclusion: In short, you get what you pay for.

几年前我在广州生活，我买了一个山寨iphone玩。这个手机只存活了几个月。我抱怨了吗？没有，因为反正这是一个很便宜的东西。

The problem with this article is that there are a few world class products coming out of China which are overshadowed by a lot of cheap knockoffs and shoddy quality merchandise. The Chinese government has acknowledged this and seem unwilling/unable to do anything substantial about it.

What is Made in the USA these days?? I mean completely made in the USA, not "Assembled from Foreign Components" . 
Genetically modified Corn?? Soy?? 
Beef and poultry products that are banned in most of the world (Europe, Japan, Taiwan and even China) due to concerns of Safety of Synthetic Growth hormones and use of Antibiotics in factory farms. 
Maybe Toothpaste (colgate) is made in USA?

For electronics, I always go for China brand. They are durable and reasonably affordable.For the other thing, I buy internationally recognized brand names like Panasonic for example that are made in China. So either way, made in China is a good choice.

Problem is that American workers are lazy, under-educated and terrible at team-work, American infrastructure is decaying, taxes are too high and corporations are utterly corrupt
Hence, the mass move to China.

Wal-Mart suppresses prices, so the "Made-in-China" items you buy at Wal-Mart are so so. But in China, you can buy really good quality goods if you are willing to pay the right price. The Chinese can make better goods than almost any other country as long as the costs are not a big concern. That's why lots of famous brands are all made in China but with a tag saying "designed in Italy" or "California". Also note that "design" is the "marketing" part while making is the "engineering" part of a good in the modern global supply chain. Which one is more difficult?

'Made in China' no longer means cheap or shoddy" except for when it does, here's how it is.
As rule I never buy anything made in China, because I don't want to support a tyrannical regime and get junk for my hard earned cash. However, I got a DeLonghi espresso maker as a gift one fine day two months back, and it was made in China. 
Here's how Chinese quality performed.
The first time I tried it out instead of making espresso, it made a small lake under the machine. I checked the settings, made sure everything was properly in place and tried again. You guessed it another lake! So I took the machine back and had to swap it for another one of the same brand because all I had was a gift receipt. I would have gladly paid more for one not made in China but nope.
Get back home, fill the tank with water and it starts leaking immediately! Go back and well I guess third try was a charm because it actually made espresso instead of a lake.
Chinese quality still equals junk, caveat emptor.
P.S. Don't buy DeLonghi espresso makers as long as they're still made in China folks, look up the failure rate online if you'd like.

中国品质仍然等同于垃圾，一经售出概不负责。
ps。只要德龙浓缩咖啡机还是中国人制造的千万别买，你可以在网站上查一下不合格率。

I am sure people below the age of 50 will not know how Japanese products slowly shrugged off their poor reputation in quality after WWII. In those days the most common Japanese products were metal toys like cars and aeroplanes driven by wound-up spring.
In those days, jokes abounded that when the paint of a Japanese car wore off, chances were that a "Milo" mark would appear! (Milo: an Australian beverage often packed in tins). Confidence in Japanese products in those days was zero compared to European or US products. In this sense, history is being repeated in the case of Chinese goods.
