At first, my thoughts were this is kindasad, a village decimated by progress and urbanization. Then I thought aboutmiddle America where drugs are ravaging the community and the young people stayput and have no jobs. Then I realized, what China has is actually better. Thisis what progress should look like. You can't have the best of both worlds. Theschool headmaster said a lot of young people left their town to work in bigcities and now have good lives. That's exactly what should happen. Obviously,the most ideal scenario is the young people stay put, build up the communityand make the community thriving. But that's a bit unrealistic. This place isremote, has frequent droughts and not at all a good place to live. Everybodyshould leave to wherever they can go to have a better life.
