China logic is that the most injured person is the victim. So if some tries to beat you up but you happen to be the better fighter. You're still in trouble.
It's just like if you're in a car crash and it's the other persons fault. If they're the one who's hurt they're the victim. This is China a logic free zone.

Not to hijack the topic but I actually witnessed two "brawls" last night one drunken one and one traffic dispute.
I've seen easily half a dozen in China since I've been here which is way more than I'd ever see back home.
Is it just me but do Chinese dudes A) love to fight especially when they're drunk and B) REALLY REALLY suck at fighting?

我不是故意来打岔的啊，不过事实上昨晚我亲眼目睹了两场“干架”，一场是酒后闹事，一场是交通事故纠纷。自我在中国以来，我已经目睹过十几场架，比我在老家那边看到的次数还多。再来，或许这是我个人的偏见，不过中国哥们是不是都 a) 喜欢干架，特别是在喝醉了以后 b) 干架水平太差？

Typical Chinese fight: 2 guys screaming at each other with their friends all around. One absurdly telegraphed punch/slap a lot more screaming one more absurdly telegraphed punch/slap more screaming. Rinse/repeat until one party leaves.
In a fight back home it'd take like 20 seconds for the fight to go into ground and pound mode on average.

典型的中国干架方式： 两个家伙相互叫骂，他们的朋友在旁边助威。其中一位动作怪异地比划着来了一拳/或一掌，然后一阵叫骂，另外一位同样动作怪异地比划着回了一拳/或一掌，又是一阵叫骂。如此重复循环直到一方离开。在我老家那边，干一场架平均只花20秒就能完成重击并击倒一方。

My takeaways from observing fighting in China:
Nobody knows kung fu in real life. It's bitch slapping all the way.
Guys don't usually start a fight unless they have like 5 friends to back them up.

Yeah I don't think I've ever seen two people just go at it. It's always some big drama with people screaming at each other on either side and slapping with maybe a neutral party trying to keep the people apart. Which makes no difference anyway because they way they punch each other is like them going at each other with a Nerf bat.

Yeah the ones that are drunk do suck at fighting I think it’s mainly because Chinese people don’t really fight under normal circumstance so they don’t really have the ‘training’ and my other guess is that Chinese action films’ fight sequences are very very unrealistic(which is where a normal person gets their ‘fighting knowledge’) and when they’re drunk they subconsciously try to reenact the moves and as they are drunk they fail miserably and it just turns out to be a punch that’s weak af.

对，喝醉的打架都不行。我想主要是因为中国人通常都不会真的干架，所以他们根本就没有干架的经验。还有我猜中国动作电影里的打斗场面都是非常不现实的（大多数人都是在电影里学的打斗知识），所以当他们喝醉了以后，他们就潜意识地模仿电影里的打斗动作，但是因为他们都醉了，所以根本就模仿不来，结果就是打出去的拳一点劲也没有。

I mean... nobody fights under normal circumstances and very few people have training. And it isn't just the drunk ones either. I've seen fights after fender benders that tend to go the exact same way. Lots of yelling. Lots of attempts at highly-telegraphed punches/slaps. Rinse and repeat until one party tires and leaves.

我的意思是说......一般情况下大家都不会打斗，且只有少部分人接受过培训。不止是喝醉的人，其他的人也一样。我看到过轻微交通事故纠纷时的打斗也是一个样。一大堆叫骂。很多都是举起手比划着装模做样要打。循环往复直到一方真的动手或者落跑。

I'm no Royce Gracie but I know how to tackle a dude get on top of him and smash his face in if need be.

Part of me wonders if it's due to the fact that every time I've seen a fight in China there have been a bunch of other people around the people fighting. Maybe they're afraid that if they take it to the ground they'll get sucker-punched by the other dude's friends? I just don't know... fights in China are a real spectacle though. At least nobody ever gets hurt...
