Washington (AFP) - A Chinese-American engineer faces charges of stealing valuable technology from General Electric, sneaking it out hidden in a picture of the sunset to take to China, the US Justice Department said.

美国司法部称，一名美籍华裔工程师面临指控，从GE窃取有价值的技术，将技术藏在一幅日落图中以带到中国。

Xiaoqing Zheng, 56, a US citizen also believed to have Chinese nationality, was due to appear before a judge in Albany, New York on Thursday, a day after his arrest, according to federal prosecutors.

56岁的郑小庆是美国公民，据认为也具有中国国籍，将于周四在纽约出庭，而他于周三被捕。

Following a four-year investigation, the FBI arrested Xiaoqing Zheng after searching his home and finding, among other things, a handbook detailing "resources" Beijing would grant to individuals providing certain technologies.

在经过4年的调查后，FBI在搜查了他的住所后逮捕了他，其中找到了一个笔记本，里面记录了北京愿意给个人提供的“资源”，前提是必须以某些技术作为交换条件。

The Chinese bought GE. Just like they bought AMC. They bought Sheraton hotel group. Maybe QUALCOMM soon. They bought IBM, and its technology to make laptop, then sell it back to the US government. Motorola is also sold to China. Some U.S. government agencies are still issuing out these phones to their employees.

Reading the comments, it's obvious how much anti Chinese propaganda is efficient it really is the new cold War. I live in China and as a foreign expert /teacher and I advise you to educate yourself on the topic before criticizing Chinese innovation, Chinese people in general or things like that. You would be surprised. Don't act like the US never stole patents either. US are far from clean in business, politics, ethics... But somehow you regard yourselves as good guys. Really, propaganda works wonders
