My favourite one is the crossing that cross 4-6 lanes of traffic only to meet a barrier dividing the traffic in the middle. Painted purely for auspiciousness.
We have a lot of these in Xiamen bimut that's because the traffic barrier in the middle never used to exist and the crossing was used.
Nowadays due to severe traffic the government has gotten rid of the majority of crossings and replaced them with overpasses.

I don't know about your neck of China but they've started cutting points off your license for not stopping for pedestrians at some intersections here.
Shanghai and the police do have occasional half-hearted campaigns at enforcing it but not nearly so much as many other traffic rules.

Well I'm Tier 88 and they've got cameras capturing that shit. 3 points and 200 yuan fine.

Shanghai is terrible for it I was surprised when cars actually stopped in Shenzhen. However now there's the issue that you don't know whether they'll stop or not at least they consistently didn't stop in Shanghai.

That doesn’t work I have already been hit that way and who’s to say the driver is not looking at their phone etc. The buses here often actively accelerate towards anyone stepping out into a crossing in their path!

I've yet to see a collision but the total stupidity of 2-3 lane roads where a car stops for pedestrians in the first lane but some idiot in the second speeds through doing 50. I've seen at least half a dozen incredibly near misses. Yeah maybe just maybe there's a reason the first car has stopped there motherfucker.

Yeah maybe just maybe there's a reason the first car has stopped there motherfucker.
That makes sense but not so much here. I have some sympathy for Chinese drivers who don't stop when other drivers have stopped. Because reasons for stopping in the middle of traffic in China: -Got a WeChat message -Had a thought about next meal or the one after that -Clipping fingernails -Had an itch -Wanted to make an important point and assert dominance in conversation with passenger. Required full stop and use of entire body. -Forgot they were driving

I had a business trip up to Putian city in Fujian a couple of weeks ago. Cars would actually stop at Zebra crossings.
I went into shock and stood there confused while the driver was waiting for me to cross. Cops there must have had a big crackdown on it.

Just a zebra crossing with Chinese Characteristics In China its always safer to jaywalk because you are on double alx rather than trusting Chinese.
Dude do you even China? The correct way to cross the road is head down eyes deep in some korean soap or an eleme order on your phone oblivious to everything around you. Everyone knows that.

a person has to dodge a bus in a traditional intersection so it’s a traffic conflict so it’s a traffic conflict so it’s bad.
a person on a bike has to dodge a car but this is how this intersection works so it’s not a traffic conflict so it’s good.
Are they fucking serious.

Fellow American? I didn't know they were called zebra crossings either. Practicing for the Taiwanese drivers licence exam one of the questions was like "T/F: this is a zebra crossing" complete with a little picture. I was all fuck naw that's a ridiculous name!
Needless to say I got that question wrong.

In wuhan with all the constructions you start quickly to not give a fuck about walking on the road.
The worst is it's safe since the right is mostly used for parking when there are no bike lanes

There are a good many of these in Shenzhen. My favourite one is a 1 foot by 6 foot strip of pavement/kerb sitting awkwardly next to a newly laid pavement that didn’t quite reach the road because the plans didn’t line up properly and people apparently don’t care. That or a cycle path that was laid (at road level) a few weeks before one of the utilities companies installed manholes at pavement height jutting put half way across said path (ie there’s now a big 4” high barrier most of the way across said cycle path. Good for the safe right?)

I think this city is one of the least pedestrian friendly cities. Or in other words most bad drivers of all cities in China. If Boston is called Masshole I think this city qualifies as Wusshole.
