The U.S. military is back in the Philippines—but the dispute with China over islands remains.

The Philippines are a failed state, which is impoverished by decades of corruption and mismanagement. And it has always been a pawn in the geopolitical game of the US. To become a prosperous country worth living in, it has at least to overcome its hostility towards China and seek a diplomatic solution on the SCS issue. An arms race with China or the US military presence on Philippine soil would not be helpful.

Basically EDCA makes Philippines a colony again, version 2.0 US is not there to protect Philippines for disputes outside her 12 NM non Spratlys islands. US is there to counter Chinese A2AD. 95% Pinoys are brainwashed by their 5% nationalist leaders into thinking US will go to war with China.
Since they are not too bright, they don't realise they are Useful Idiots for US to do her Power Projection. Basically not too bright people best destiny is to become a slave, a colony again.

Better a colony of the United States rather than a colony of China/Japan or any other Asian Nation. They regard the Filipino as inferiors. And as far as war is concerned, of course we will fight China as we did Japan. What all of you Sinophiles do not take into account is that JAPAN, KOREA, INDIA, THAILAND, VIETNAM, Australia, Russia, and the US will not tolerate the hegemony of China over the Western Pacific.
Another think Sinophiles have never taken into account:
1. They have NEVER WON A NAVAL WAR.
2. The last time they were even close to a naval power was 600 years ago
3. India, Japan, Australia, Russia, and US all have had experience fighting

World war 2. India had a fleet staffed by Indian sailors and officers. Australia and us have cooperated since world war 2. Japan was our enemy but has experience in all parts of modern naval warefare, and of course Russia has a long history of a competent navy. China has nothing in the way of experience

CORRECT CORRECT CORRECT. They actually sent Nationalist Chinese prisoners of war to the Korean Peninsula to be the famous HUMAN WAVE STRATEGY, with the promise that their freedom and their families in China will be secured which never happened. Mao starve the rest of them anyhow from 1957-1962.

Idia had war with Pakistan, Australia was part of Allied forces in WW2, Afghanistan, and Iraq War. Japan conquered all of East Asia and the western Pacific right before WW2. Russia have been fighting wars against the Mongol hoards, WW2, Korean War, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Georgian Civil War. Everybody knows how many wars the US has been through, so I am not going to even mention it.

Not much of a naval war between India and Pakistan. The concept of sending WW2 veterans with 'experience' to war in modern times is just too hilarious to entertain.
With the Phillipines as main topic it's clear we're talking a experienced navy.
Any country with a navy that has actual combat experience would score points. Few small naval skirmishes but no real naval battles for any country. Without much combat experience to be found it will depend on training.

Russian Navy is no more than a Soviet era war junks. Russia and China are de facto allies.
Indian Navy is no more than an extension of Russian Navy. Besides they have to deal with Pakistan first (a defacto China ally).

Our Navy is as good as non exsistent. Sad to say but its a reality.
In this modern era.. A Navy must atleast posses a missile armed warship. If you really want to fight any possible threats or go on the offensive.
The best ships we have now are US coastguard cutters armed with one cannon in front. Plus newly installed machine guns by the navy.

PH weapons are good enough against the Chinese whose weapons are good only for parades. China has no war experience. Oh, I forgot, they defeated Tibet policemen whose most lethal weapons were 6-shot revolvers. Even when they had Kublai Khan (12th century) as their leader, they could not win a war against the Sultan of Borneo. The invaders brought horses to fight a war in the jungle and found out that horses could not penetrate thick bushes.
