Cuttingus off in the short term from foreign sources is going to leave us withsignificance shortage of products (which may be OK but will some negativeconsumer opportunities). Much better would be to develop a strategic planto move production to the U.S. on a realistic time scale, and will require significantinvestment in automation and worker skills to lead to success in thiseffort. Another focus might be to discourage Americans from wishing forsome of the useless stuff they buy from China. Tariffs are the wrong wayto do this.
