The worst drought in living memory is sweeping parts of eastern Australia, leaving farmers struggling to cope and asking questions about their future. While the weather has improved in parts of Western Australia, winter rain has gone missing across much of the country’s east, leaving farmers praying for rain after planting seed in dry soil or culling cattle and sheep they can no longer afford to feed. About 99 percent of the state – which accounts for a quarter of Australia’s agricultural output by value – is now officially in drought. (Reuters)

Water, water everywhere, but not a drop to drink. I guess we've finally reached that time and place where water desalination is mandatory regardless of the cost.

到处都是水资源问题,一滴水都不够了。我想我们是时候强制海水淡化了,无论成本如何

I must have counted at least 1/2 dozen lush, green golf courses in the 30 miles around Gunnedah on aerial photos. Maybe it's time to stop watering them and make sure farmers have enough, eh?

我确信航空照片干旱的冈尼达周围30英里的至少1到2个郁郁葱葱的绿色高尔夫球场。也许现在是时候停止给球场浇水,以确保农民有足够的水,不是吗?
