Probably not. Indian GDP growth has always been slow for its developmental level. Economists widely believe this is due to poor economic policy, like subsidies for traditional manufacturing.
Unless they fix their economic policy, they'll never catch up. That doesn't mean they won't get richer than they are now.

I was there 20 years ago and it was by far the biggest culture shock of my life.
The rest of the world is now following a greater culture which can be traced back to Abrahamic religions. India is one of the last major regions on Earth to follow its own path and ways. This leads to a notable difference in the Indian way of life compared to everyone else.

The Indian subcontinent generally seem to still be very backwards in their culture and until that stops I don't think we'll be as successful as nations like Norway. I might be wrong but as a Sri lankan and having known Bangladeshis and Indians that's the picture I get.

I think the biggest Culture shock in my life was San Fransisco. It is hard to believe that the city is supposed to be in the developed world. But then I do think the US is a huge culture shock from anyone else in the developed world. India was expected in a way, but US West Coast cities you do not expect to be what they are.
