Hillary Clinton, like her husband and Dianne Feinstein has been a supporter and apologist for China for most of her career. Her ties are very close, and may contain some illicit payments to the Clinton Foundation.
She would not want to rock this very lucrative relationship by imposing tariffs.

Hard to say what she would do. Maybe ask them how much money can you give to the Clinton Foundation. That might have an impact on her decision
Steve Tarver
Probably not. She would listen to her accredited economic advisors, who actually understood the world economy, and peacefully resolved the issues.

you would need to ask her, or wait 4 years.

It’s hard to say. I can’t predict what she may or may not have done, but I’m sure that she would have handled things far more diplomatically. She already had a relationship with China, after being Secretary of State, had a familiarity with how things work, so would have I think, more success diplomatically.
Trump keeps slapping tariffs on everyone, it’s the little people that it’s going to bite in the ass.

She wouldn’t have done nothing because her husband was responsible for nafta! Although nafta promised more jobs for Americans . However, that wasn’t so because many company’s left the United States and took their jobs with them ! Trump is attempting to undo that !

There would be no trade war because she would not have have had Wilbur Ross in her government. The guy is a known fan of trade tariffs. Although the WTO is slow, at least it is safe.
Same with not pulling out of the Iran deal because John (warhawk) Bolton would also not be in government.
The Paris Agreement would still have the US in it as well.

That is a silly question. Hillary was for “open borders” and illegals so she would not ever put tariffs on China. She would be in the pocket of the globalists like Cook of Apple, Jamie Dimon and all the bankers , all of Silicon Valley led by Google who will sell their soul (and yours) to get into China and of course Obama who believed America is the problem in the world.

Thanks for A2A.
As for tariffs and other possible sanctions on China, no, Hillary absolutely would not.
To understand why, realize that while it’s true that both parties are thoroughly beholden to billionaires, it’s not the same billionaires.
Silicon Valley billionaires, in particular, are very much in the Democratic camp, and are coincidentally the most dependent on having the Chinese build our phones and tablets and other devices driving the modern tech economy.
Trump and the GOP are beholden to entirely different billionaires. More old school, as a rule. That’s tobacco, oil, guns, and the like.
Also, Trump’s entire political persona is supposedly about protecting American workers from unrestricted immigration and unfair foreign competition. Hillary famously doesn’t give a damn about the American worker in any way. That’s the main reason she lost, because she cared so little about working class votes that she sprayed open contempt at them, like a skunk.
She was a champion of the TPP (her claimed reversal on that being a simple, albeit humongous, lie), and that would’ve enshrined our dependence on Chinese labor and tech.
I happen to think the sanctions are a poor idea, but hardly for the same reason Hillary would oppose them. I think they damage American agricultural concerns too much, because China naturally has imposed retaliatory tariffs on American food products.
I’m also very big on American tech companies, but I don’t think we should be so all-fired eager for cheap iPhones that we undercut what remains of our own industrial base. I think a vibrant American industrial sector is key to our health as a nation going forward; you can’t eat bombs.

If elected, yes, she would have been nicely handling trade relations with China as any chief executive would, but certainly not losing her mind like Trump and imposing tariffs on China.
Mrs. Clinton saw three-pronged approach to the Asian region while broadening our relationship with China; and, always looking for ways to strengthen American treaty alliances in the region, namely with Japan, Phillipines, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia and India. Not sure if any of these are shithole countries!
Mrs. Clinton was also in favor of maintaining TPP that Trump withdrew from; furthermore, she wanted to elevate and harmonize the alphabet soup of regional Asian alliances, like ASEAN, SAARC, US-Japan, US-Korea, US- Australia, US-Singapore, US-Taiwan, US-Philippines bilateral alliances. Trump wants to withdraw all troops from Asia to save money and move them to the US West Coast.
Mrs. Clinton was in favor of forward-deployed diplomacy in Asia borrowing a term from the military. She was in favor of widening the scope, depth and breadth of American diplomacy in the Asian region.
Mrs. Clinton was in favor of amalgam of the above approaches, as each situation warranted, without unnecessarily provoking China into a trade war and harming our own domestic industry in a tariff war.
China has always been keenly aware of the superior military power of the United States and generally hewed to the principles of international law. In 2009 and 2010, China began to doubt American regional commitment and viewed American power as in decline. These observations led hardliners in the Communist Party and the People’s Liberation Army to adopt a more assertive approach and become a selective stakeholder, picking and choosing when to act like a responsible great power, and when to assert the right to impose its will on its smaller neighbors.
As Secretary of State, Mrs. Clinton succeeded in developing an effective counter strategy to the Chinese ambitions and reasoned that America must not become involved in specific disputes in Asiam and instead encouraged China’s smaller neighbors to avoid facing China unilaterally – which China sought – in favor of dealing with China on a multilateral level, particularly through organizations such as ASEAN.
This is how foreign policy is conducted. You understand the region. You learn the region. You have a Plan A, Plan B and a Plan C for complex issues. You talk to people, you use diplomacy, you use traditional alliances that are good for the United States. You don’t go to any kind of war just because you can. Things that every single every American president has done since WWII, until president Trump came to office.
