China truly understands that India is adirect threat to its journey to becoming Asia’s numero uno. Their leaders havebeen playing all their cards to prevent or slow down India’s journey. But thisis not as easy as we think because of the global power balance. India’sstrategic movements on various issues acted as direct counter-attacks toChinese movements.

中国明白印度是其成为亚洲老大道路上的一个直接威胁。中国采取了所有的措施阻止或者放缓印度的发展。但是因为全球权力平衡，这没有我们想象的那么简单。印度在多个议题上的战略举动直接反制了中国。



As of now, both countries don’t see theother as a threat to their neck and they have tons of other issues to worryabout. But they are damn alert about the other. India learned their lesson in1962 in a hard way. From then onwards, India keeps their armed forces on topnotch. Many answers in Quora mentions that “JaiHind” is not a war cry any enemysoldier want to hear. Now the Chinese army is phenomenal, on any day theChinese army will outlast the Indian army on strength and equipment but theyhardly had any ground experiences. China was not involved in any major warsituations except the war with India in 1962. I am not a soldier but I assumethat this makes a major difference. And as both nations have nuclear capacity,I don’t think a war is likely to happen. And asking who will be bigger inanother 30–40 years, my common sense and knowledge would say that it will beChina. But India also will grow on break-neck pace and will be next to China.

截止目前为止，两个国家都不视对方为致命威胁，而且各自都有很多事情需要解决。但是双方都对对方高度警惕。印度在1962年得到惨痛的教训。此后，印度积极建设自己的军队。如今中国军队很厉害，在力量和装备上都胜过印度军队，但是中国军队几乎没有作战经验。除了1962年和印度的战争外，此后中国没有参与任何重大的战争。我不是军人，但是我猜测这会产生很大影响。而且两国都拥有核武器，我认为战争不可能发生。三四十年后，哪个国家更强大，我的常识和知识告诉我会是中国。但是印度也会非常快速的发展，紧追着中国。

There is only one superpower, and that isthe USA. China or India or whatever cannot be even close to the US inforeseeable future.
US defense equipments, technology are farsuperior than China, actually ahead of its time. US Navy is preeminent powerand controls the oceans. US has NATO and many friendly allies like South Korea,Japan, Australia etc. China has Pakistan.

世界上只有一个超级强国，那就是美国。在可预见的未来，中国或是印度都无法赶上美国。美国的防御设备和技术都远超中国，超过了这个时代。美国海军天下无敌，控制着海洋。美国有北约，还有很多友好的盟友比如韩国，日本，澳洲等等。中国有巴基斯坦。

US defense budget is still 4 times that ofChina. Per capita income of US would still be 3 times more than China in 2050!
I think people overstate China a lot.China's rise has been on massive exports driven policies. It has not done greatin high end research in science and technology.

美国的国防开销是中国的四倍。到2050年美国的人均收入将是中国的三倍。我认为人们太高估中国了。中国的崛起主要由出口导向性政策导致的。在高端的科学技术研发上并没有取得什么重大成就。
