Outflow of US goods and technology allowed poor countries to rise out of poverty. You can argue we are a crutch no one wants. But to say we are benefitting from poor countries and not caring about their interests is completely the opposite of the truth. How many people lost high paying jobs in favor of people from poor countries here on a visa. How many manufacturing jobs have disappeared to give developing countries a boost. We are being hurt by helping poor countries. Plain and simple. If the phillipines and the rest of Asia wants to crawl into bed with China so be it. Most in the US would prefer to stop foreign aid.
