The latest GENRON poll confirms that Sino-Japanese relations are souring. This trend began as early as 2005 according to the GENRON data but an argument could be made that from a historical point of view Sino-Japanese relations have been cautious if not guarded with Japan being consistent in a buffering approach when it comes to Sino-Japanese relations.

Prime Minister Abe is keenly aware of the challenge China's re-emergence as the largest economic political and security force in the region is for Japan's political economic and security. This essay argues that rather than openly competing with China economically politically or militarily Japan’s approach is a return to Japan’s historical approach of buffering and nullifying (防范/Fángfàn/ 予防) China to enjoy the benefits of trade relations but avoid a relationship that is too close in which China could dominate Japan in the economic political or security spheres. The term balancing and hedging are intentionally not used in the context of this essay as they convey the sense that Japan is "conducting business as usual" with China instead of what I argue is a reorientation of relations at several levels to maintain autonomy and emx its presence and influence in the region and globally through shared norms economic statecraft and the bolstering of multilateral security networks.

Another poorly written article. Repeats buffer and nullify (防范/Fángfàn/ 予防) approach again and again. It is adopting more a European balance of power scheme and hostile to China. Japan has no equivalent in its past history. Japanese government is just doing everything one century too late: repeating 19 century British imperialism in the 20th century now having a 20 century US cold war with China in the 21 century. The only equivalent is that It will end up as trouble-maker pirates committing raids and a disruptive force to Asia stability with an outside force.

Japanese are different and demand conformity they continuously deny about their inhuman atrocities wrongful acts and invasion during the world wars. The Japanese PM Abe and many political figures there publicly regularly deny what the country had done in WWII. More importantly his cabinet received overwhelming support from Japanese. This nation and many of its people were not only evil but has lost their conscience to enable them to be a normal person. Such nation and people are a real danger to other countries.

Japanese are basically introvert without a sense of belonging to Asia community for they don't mix with the locals in any other foreign countries they are based. The society itself is a cult like horde racist and prejudice against immigrants from any country especially from the Asia countries.

Another articles that rationalizes and buys into Japan as a victim of Chinese aggression while Japan is using the normal military expansion of China to portrait Japan as a victim but in fact Japan was the biggest beneficiary of U.S. hegemony established since WW2.

Just because the Communist Party does not allow free thinking and expression in China does not mean we have to restrict ourselves in the normal world as we saw at the press conference in Canada with the Chinese foreign minister. The posts here are all thinly veiled CPC propaganda.

They are China sympathizers and is symbolic of China's problem. Germany apologized because they had to. If I were Abe I'd never apologize because it's not in my country's interest. I'd do pretty much everything Abe is doing.

Well having been to both countries I've always thought Japan and China are natural enemies that will settle their differences again this century through conflict.

This article has so many biases and is one-sided in favor of the Japanese. As this article's author Mr. Stephen Nagy is so far behind from his degree and profession. He even did not mention what really happened in history between China and Japan though he wrote about "history". People know one fact: China and Korea did not invade Japan a single time while Japan invaded China and Korea and occupied their territories any time Japan had a chance in history.
Although he wrote incorrectly about the relationship between China and Japan Mr. Stephen Nagy can excel at writing his own history but he may not do this. He obviously likes his favorite ninja's way.

China doesn't bring up the past unless an important figure goes to Yasukuni Shrine. Such visits are done in a high-profile manner. (If visits were low key no one would even notice and no face would be lost.) So it's bs to think that China complains for fun. They want a normal relationship with Japan a friendly one which does exist on a people to people basis. Japan should be careful not to poke China or Korea in the eye. The U.S. of course keeps quiet and only wants to divide and rule the gooks.
