A firefighter gave his respirator to a baby when a blaze broke out in a lift shaft – trapping the child in Xi’an City Shaanxi province northwest China.

中国西北部陕西省西安市，某电梯井发生火灾，一消防员将其呼吸器让给被困婴儿。

A fire broke out in a lift shaft of this building. A baby who was trapped on the 14th floor...was brought to safety in only six minutes.

A firefighter decided to give his respirator to the baby.
Li Zhi/The firefighter: If I use it the expiration is large and the baby can't take it. In that situation I think I can bear the fumes. So I adjusted the respirator for the baby.The adults can breathe on their own and they can bear the smoke at a certain degree. But children are different.

消防员李治：如果我要给自己供气的话，吹气量要很大，所以小孩肯定受不了。而且我当时判断，这个烟雾量成年人可以忍受，所以我就只开了他的气，而且开得很小。成年人是主动呼吸，对烟雾量有个可以忍受的程度，但小孩不一样。

Genius. He put the lives of the baby and other fire fighters at risk for a feel good moment. The baby can inhale a little smoke what it can't do is carry a grown man out of a burning building. I mean good on him for taking a risk and acting heroic he probably didn't know any better. But it does not paint a great picture of the kind of training these people are given before they put their lives on the line.
