Let look at North Korea to find your answer.
During 1950s, China was successful to have Korea and Vietnam divided into 2 parts which the nearer parts are China allies.
In my opinion, they don’t want the unification at both case. They prefer to be the fisherman to take advantage the case two big fishes fighting each other.

看看现代的朝鲜你就知道答案了。
1950年代期间，中国成功将朝鲜和越南分裂成两个部分，靠近中国的那部分都成为了中国盟友。在我看来，中国都不愿意看到两个国家统一。中国更想鹬蚌相争渔翁得利。

I’m curious that your textbooks never mention which side China was on during the Vietnam War?
Communist China contributed a lot in your unification.

What’s more. If Vietnam the neighbor of China, can be rich. This is a model for other countries that willing to cooperate with China.

此外，作为中国的邻居，如果越南因为这个原因而变得富有的话。那将成为其他国家学习的榜样，从而愿意与中国合作。

So when China claim:”we are friendly , trying to help other developing country” I really believe they are telling the truth. Because they are the factory of the earth. They benefit while their customer have more money.

所以这时如果中国称“我们是朋友，在努力帮助其他发展中国家”。那么我相信中国的说法。因为他们是地球工厂。在顾客有更多钱购买的情况下，中国也能获得更多益处。



Thirdly, China’s position on the South China Sea is not specific to the Vietnam. It’s simply that China needs to control its maritime artery.
Fourthly, it has been China’s proposal to Vietnam for a long time that neighbouring countries can share the resources in the region.
Last but not least, lame politicians often blame other countries for their own problems.

第三，中国在南海的立场不单单是针对越南。而是中国需要控制自己的海洋动脉。
第四，中国一直都对越南提议说周边邻国可以共享该地区的资源。
最后，无能的政客总是将自己的问题归咎于其他国家。
