Caracas (AFP) - Crisis-hit Venezuela is willing to restore diplomatic relations with the United States after a six-year freeze the socialist government said Monday.

The foreign ministry's announcement came two weeks after top US diplomat Thomas Shannon met with Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro in a bid to help tackle the country's economic and political crisis.

In a message congratulating the United States on its Independence Day commemoration the ministry expressed its "willingness to establish respectful bilateral diplomatic relations."

The two countries have not exchanged ambassadors since 2010 due to tensions between Washington and the government of Hugo Chavez Maduro's mentor and late predecessor.

eventually they all come crawling back. Iran hates us but they wanted to talk to the U.S. to end the sanctions. Russia hates us but now Putin just said today that he wants better ties with the U.S. North Korea hates us but they want to sign a peace treaty with us. The Philippines kicked out our military but now that China is trying to take over the South China sea the Philippines are now saying welcome back America our favorite friends and bring your free military equipment with you. They all hates us until they need us.

Really they don't mind restoring relations with the U.S. Let's see they are dead broke don't have basic necessities and are in need of a lot of financial aid. Can anyone guess why they want to restore diplomatic relations with us?
The question is why would we want to restore relations with them. They don't have anything we want or need and they can't help us with any problems we face.
Thanks for the offer of restoration but no thanks we don't need or want it.

Of course they want to and then demand billions in aid from the US at the tax payers expense. These socialist ran out of other people's money and now they want more "other" peoples money.
We better not give them a nickle let Mexico or some other Central or South American country bail them out. We're broke! Besides all those illegals from down there love to wave their country's flag on US soil while protesting badmouthing the United States and burning the US flag. Why would you give money to and enemy!

Id only open relations after Maduro sucks it up and tells the world that he has been lying and fabricating every complaint that the USA is undermining his pathetic leadership. He will promise to never do it again without showing "real and tangible" at the time of saying it. We really dont need him or his oil that is so difficult to crack. Maduro needs to let the congress elected by the people do their job unfettered by him or his cronies.

I hate to say this but I don't want to give Venezuela any of my tax money. They willingly voted for their "Bernie Sanders" and got what they voted for. I do wish them good luck however.
