BEIJING (Reuters) - Freedom of navigation patrols carried out by foreign navies in the South China Sea could end "in disaster" a senior Chinese admiral has said a warning to the United States after last week's ruling against Beijing's claims in the area.

China has refused to recognize the ruling by an arbitration court in The Hague that invalidated its vast territorial claims in the South China Sea and did not take part in the proceedings brought by the Philippines.

It has reacted angrily to calls by Western countries and Japan for adherence to the decision.

Yep a disaster for China. Frankly if it was the US Navy vs every other navy in the world combined it would be an even fight. Against just China or even China Russia and North Korea the US Navy alone would kick their behinds even without its allies such as Japan South Korea Australia Canada Philippines (for bases) Europe etc.

Let me see if I've got this straight. FONOPS by the United States are "damaging to freedom of navigation" even though the United States has routinely done them all over the world for many decades. But when the PRC introduces "battle patrols" by introducing bombers spy planes and flying tankers over an international sea the Chinese are attempting to steal it's "routine." Instead of sending people to China to teach English maybe we should send them there to teach logic and critical reasoning.

The US lost lives fighting to keep the navigation open if China thinks they are going to willingly back down I think they are going to be in for a surprise.
Now this may not be the case where the US could do much in the way of standing up to them 15 years from now but today China is not even close to what the US navy is and if a conflict came they would find most of the West would join in no one should be able to control a major water way which happens to be a sea.

Blanchard needs to learn the difference between a warning and a threat. China is creating bases in shallow international waters in an attempt to create the illusion of sovereignty there which does not exist and seizing islands which are claimed as part of other smaller nations. This is part of a strategy which is likely to end in war since no nation or group of nations can tolerate such an abuse of international norms without losing far more in the longer run.

The free world (including Russia and China) are more than aware that the United States (currently) will NEVER be defeated militarily and no one will challenge us to war as long as that threat exists to them. But as usual rhetoric trumps action and China (like it's puppet North Korea) continually shakes it sword at us more for the media attention than anything else. Those who wish to see us defeated (Russia China and Islam) all know we are vulnerable only to economic defeat and that that will happen in time since huge steps have already been invoked. We are in debt way beyond reason we no longer are a manufacturing nation our education system is in ruins and this year our choices for a new leader are deplorable. All they have to do is wait.

If China takes control of the freedom of navigation in that region the consequence will be devastating not only for its neiboringncountries like the Philippines Vietnam Japan but other countries such as India Indonesia the US European countries and the whole wide world strategically politically and economically!
Quite obvious smaller countries in nearby region would not be able to "defeat" China aggression even if they are determined to do so. It's critical for all world powers like France the UK Russia Japan and especially the US to "act" following ruling of the international tribunal regarding the territorial disputes in that region. If they fail to act in forcing China to halt its aggressive course the consequence will be devastating sooner or later. People should not forget the US' decision to change its China policy in the early 1970s towards the end of the Vietnam War and the emerging of a "new" China as a result of its policy.
Hope US short term interests will not override longterm strategic concern of the whole world.

如果中国在该地区控制航行自由，其后果不仅对它的邻国如菲律宾、越南、日本，对其它国家如印度、印度尼西亚、美国、欧洲国家和全世界从战略上、政治上和经济上来说都将是毁灭性的！
