About the Chosin Reservoir Campaign: In the winter of 1950, deep within the frozen mountains of North Korea, 15,000 U.S. Soldiers and Marines were surrounded and trapped by 120,000 Chinese soldiers. Despite the odds, the Marines refused to surrender and fought their way 78 miles to the sea and rescued 98,000 refugees. This tale of sacrifice and courage that contends with the story of the 300 Spartans at Thermopylae as one of the most heroic feats in history.

If you think the Syrian government is better, I'd hate to tell you this, but you must be mentally ill. They started this war, They killed their own people just because of a protest. The battle was real though.
the americans dealt major damage in all battles in Korea. This company did save close to 100,000 Refugees to flee into south Korea, and kill all 120,000 Chinese/North Koreans.
Thats why almost all the survivors got medals of honor and such for their incredibly heroic feats.

No, the war is not over yet. the ceasefire ends in 1920.

The only foreign country my grandpa went is Korea in 1950 as a solider. Their weapons were way disadvantage than americans, but they fought hard and they had very firm will to fight until the end. They were all young men, not zombies, and I saw no respects with deceased in this animation.

I think the representation of Communist forces is more of a depiction of how the Marines fighting at Chosin saw them, in the fear of combat the Chinese might have seen the Americans the same way, savage killing machines. Like when the PFC saw that one kid, it was a moment of realization that either side was just like each-other: human.

They're still fighting to this day. The war was never officially over, it's just the longest ceasefire in human history, 60+ years. Another fact, even after the ceasefire both sides would pop off rounds at each side, ending up with casualties on both sides.

+AwakenedMachinist  I thought it was pretty obvious.  It's shown from the POV of PFC Billy French.  The monstrous-looking Chinese represent his fear and terror.  It's why the one Chinese kid illuminated by the flare looks human, because French can see that the other guy is every bit as scared as he is.

To the average American grunt, aka infantryman, the chinks were nameless monsters trying to kill them. The scene where the American and Chinese kids see eachother is when they realize they aren't fighting monsters, but people.

Pretty intense. I thought it was powerfully poetic during the scene where the protagonist ran out of ammo and a flare lit up as he faced the communist soldier, the enemy became human.

Very powerful, well done. The way you have the enemy first show up as powerful demons to only reveal that they are the 'boys' and you the 'boy' are a Marine!

I also initially bristled at that. I think it was showing the perspective of those who fought that the enemy are nameless and faceless ghouls until a brief moment shows the humanity in both sides. I could be wrong.
