Understandably there is some animosity between some nationalities like the Japanese and Chinese but it wasn't just Japanese people I met. Thai girls I met thought Chinese people were rude and mean some S. Koreans thought they were all dirty and my Mongolian friend also thought they were rude and unkind.

I haven't experience any of this personally (minus occasionally gross spitting) however I am American and Chinese people seem to treat Americans/Europeans much differently than other asians.
Now to be fair it also seems like asians just hate other asians in general. Every asian I spoke to no matter the nationality always had something negative to say about other asians except for Koreans. Everyone seems to like Koreans for some reason probably because of Korean soap operas and other media.

Everyone seems to like Koreans for some reason probably because of Korean soap operas and other media.
Nope Japanese are traditionally prejudiced against Koreans.
The real answer is that these countries are uncomfortably close together and there is a certain amount of political and social friction that develops as a result. Japanese look down on Chinese the Chinese hate the Japanese everyone hates rude Chinese tourists etc. It's just a bunch of petty rivalry and shitty stereotyping.

It's still not favorable. You could say they hate Koreans the least.
I'm more interested in the fact that Japanese dislike Chinese even more than Chinese dislike Japanese. Which is some serious strong dislike. "Fuck those devils I hate them we should just kill them" levels of dislike.

It depends entirely on how the question is phrased. If you give respondents a simple binary like/dislike question then it doesn't surprise me that 91% of Japanese would choose dislike for China. Japanese survey takers have a documented tendency to pick moderate values on Lickert scales—give them a 1 to 5 and almost everyone picks 3. I poked around at the lixed article but couldn't find the specific questions asked so it's unclear.
Admittedly my experience is anecdotal but as a long-time resident of Japan I doubt most Japanese really feel a lot of hate toward China. My experience has been that Japanese attitudes are more like "China? Oh yeah that big country over there. I guess I'm not a huge fan." Japanese media behaves like they're an island off the west coast of the US and China comes up only when there's some kind of conflict so the average Japanese person probably has mild negative associations. I wouldn't round that up to hate really.
I myself am a big fan of Chinese stuff I've been learning Mandarin in my spare time for a couple of years and I have a few Chinese friends over here in Tokyo. But if you give me a binary like/dislike on China as a country I might choose dislike. Love Chinese people not a fan of their government.

Yea some Japanese are incredibly prejudiced against other Asian countries equating Korea to Mexico China to Venezuela and Asian countries to other Latin American countries in general. The standard "Japan master race" kinda thing.
But it is true that a lot more Asian countries are against China than they are to Japan or Korea... mostly due to China being more prent (and therefore getting in a lot more conflict) in other Asian countries.

When people first go outside their country they don't have any international awareness and come off as hicks. Similarly when hicks come into money they don't really know what to do with it and come off as garish. It happened to Americans Koreans Japanese brits etc...it takes a generation or two to know how to act abroad and have sophistication consumerste with your wealth.
Many Chinese simply don't realize that they can't behave abroad as they do at home but it isn't a Chinese phenomenon. Given time....

Only six months? The connotation emxded in using the word "lived" here doesn't seem right in the context of such a short time duration. Might be subjective here but I wouldn't say I "lived somewhere" unless it was at least for a year. Otherwise you're traveling or studying or on business so one of those seems more suitable.

Likely some confluence of the large numbers of Chinese migrants who have created insular Chinese communities in other parts of Asia the Chinese governments protectionism / tariffs on goods imported from other South Asian nations the Chinese government's subsidizing Chinese exporters who compete with exporters from other south Asian nations China's illegal dumping of steel etc. on the international market China's territorial expansionism (Ie. taking over Tibet wars with India the whole "South China sea belongs to us because of some old fishing maps" business) the behavior of their tourists in foreign countries China's increasingly fervent and outwardly directed nationalism Chinese Governments support for the despotic regime of Kim Jong Un in North Korea etc. etc.
I think its a lot less about disliking Chinese people individually or on a personal level and a lot more about disliking the Chinese government and aspects of Chinese culture / society and projecting those feelings onto individuals. China also represents this huge and increasingly powerful neighbor who pretty much every other south / east Asian nation views as as this weird combination of opportunity and threat.
