BEIJING (Reuters) - China launched its first domestically built aircraft carrier on Wednesday amid rising tension over North Korea and worries about Beijing's assertiveness in the South China Sea.

State media has quoted military experts as saying the carrier China's second and built in the northeastern port of Dalian is not expected to enter service until 2020 once it has been kitted out and armed.

Interestingly enough it wasn't because China can't figure out nuclear power (they actually are behind only Russia and the US in terms of nuclear arsenal) but that diesal engines on warships are much quieter. China's main aggressor right now in its hemisphere is Russia who's navy is nearly 50% submarines which detect ships through noise believe it or not. China purposely built this ship to be much smaller run on quieter diesal (which many of the stealthiest subs do too) and coated it with anti sonar platings underneath. Yes it's not the flotilla of guns and missiles we in the US are used to but the Chinese built what they needed for their situation.

This new Chinese carrier has half the displacement of a modern US carrier. Excuse me but it is time to get back to reality and call China's bluff in the South China Sea. This Chinese carrier is no match whatsoever for the US Navy's capabilities. This is a joke right? Are people still willingly to take China seriously regarding their military bluster?
