Chinese college students studying in the U.S. are finding it just as interesting these days to return home to the world's No. 2 economy rather than staying a few years in the world's No. 1.

如今，在美留学的中国大学生发现比起在世界第一经济体的美国多呆几年，回到世界第二大经济体的祖国貌似也是一个不错的选择。

Some 82.23% of students who studied abroad returned to China last year, up from 72.38% in 2012, according to government figures.

China's 21st Century Education Research Institute said foreign countries’ job markets could not accommodate the surge in Chinese students. It wasn't just Chinese studying in their preferred country -- the United States -- but also included students that were studying in New Zealand and Australia as well. National Institute of Education Sciences researcher Chu Chaohui said returning students had more resources and better networks in China to find a job, while Chinese students in the U.S. were dependent on 20,000 H1-B visas for tens of thousands of students, not only from China, and the majority of them working in computer sciences.

Most wealthy Chinese that buy real estate in the U.S. are buying properties for their children to live in during their college years. In fact, college is the number one driver of Chinese real estate sales here. But as this market gets more saturated, and as China's economy becomes more entrepreneurial, students are finding the market to be just as welcoming to them there. Having a U.S. diploma helps.

I worked in China for ten years and I can tell you, they are NOT bright !!! There education system is archaic and stiffles creativity and there is NO innovation because the curriculum and methodologies are controlled by the ignorant commie-clowns in Butt-jing ... Most Chinese students couldn't think their way out of a paper bag.

A large chunk of the students at our university are either from China or the Middle East. They make up for a large portion of the university's bottom line, paying max tuition. It makes tuition for in-state students much more affordable. Plus, they are exposed to our culture and our economic system, and from what I have seen, they love it. When these people graduate and go back home, they can have a big influence on how their friends and family view the United States, and can play a major role in changing negative perceptions of our country. Especially the ones from the Middle East. As undergrad students, they arent really in a position to steal any of our sensitive technology, either, so it's generally a win-win. The opinion of someone who has actually lived here for 4 years carries a lot of weight back home, I imagine.

Don't you think that the Chinese government, who pays for their education, "encourages" them to return to China when they are done? Oh, of course they have to bring trade secrets and intellectual property with them. "You do still have family in China don't you? it would be a shame if something happened to them." That's what they are being told!!!

Well I can tell you my company still has many many Chinese and Indians on H1B visas. The Chinese are also very good at steeling intellectual property and we allow it to happen for the sake of getting cheap H1B labor.
