GE and Safran made this possible in thename of money. Once the airplane is in full production GE and Sfaran will beterminated and the Chinese will start the copy by reverse engineering. This hasbeen the case of J-11 were the Russian can't do anything about the reverseengineering deployed with their flankers.
You keep supplying China with technology and with their all out pirating theyproduce a product so cheap it will destroy your own manufacturing. 
The west didn't learn form the Russian tragedy.

Once China had started building commercialplanes, it can only mean 3 things:-
1) The Chinese will only & soon make it better.
2) When they do, it will meant they will stop buying your Boeing or Airbusplanes.
3) Or worse, become a competitor by slashing on the high prices of your planesndus eroding your big profits.
NB: Their high speed trains are classic examples. I had sat on their trainsdozens of times & I have no complain at all. Only fully packed at times. Tothose haters who love to sneer at their products, I bet you dudes have notstepped into the country to see for yourselves; no need to talk about takingtheir train rides.
