BEIJING (Reuters) - Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged $124 billion on Sunday for his new Silk Road plan to forge a path of peace, inclusiveness and free trade, and called for the abandonment of old models based on rivalry and diplomatic power games.

This is China's "Colonialism 2.0" project where practices by the erstwhile East India Company is faithfully copied to siphon off profits from gullible countries while leaving them in a massive debt trap that they can't overcome. When debtor nations can't repay the loans (as already seen in Sri Lanka recently), they will offer land for clearing debt and compromise their sovereignty. The CPEC (part of the Silk Road project) is pretty much the exact way railways were laid in 19th century India - by overpricing materials and labour and ensuring guaranteed returns from participating countries. China is even shipping its unskilled labour to these countries (just as they've done in Namibia). China will get all the benefits while the debt-trapped nations get nothing.
