孟加拉加强军事建设应对区域军备竟赛 [美国媒体]

Bangladesh will domestically build 6 guided missile frigates and has ordered two submarines from China. They have two Chinese Ming-class submarines on order which are to be delivered by 2019. The total submarine order is about $200 million.

In the past, the Bangladesh Army has been equipped with Chinese tanks, its navy has Chinese frigates and missile boats and the Bangladesh Air Force flies Chinese fighter jets.

The two Type-035G boats ordered in 2013 for a sum of $203 million and now commissioned as BNS Nabajatra and Joyjatra, respectively, have typical Ming class features, with a submerged displacement of 2,110 tonnes, an overall length of 76 meters, beam of 7.6 m, hull draught of 5.1 m, and a top speed of 18 knots when submerged.

The two submarines have an integrated sonar and electronic warfare suite with Chinese derivatives of Western origin systems.

Remember that saying "Baseball ain't Bangladesh" which was a reference to how dirt poor that country is? And they want to gift money to the land of skunks i.e. China for stolen technology and third-rate stuff? The money could instead be spent on educating and sterilizing its dirt poor people. The same goes for all other South Asian countries.

India operates the US-made P8 Orion aircraft from Boeing, which are the most advanced anti-submarine warfare platforms in the world. India has peaceful relations with both Bangladesh and Myanmar and is trying to promote peace between these 2 poor countries, but China needs to pit them against each other in order to retain them as military clients and to get them into a debt trap so that they have to do Beijing's bidding. It's all part of that "peaceful rise of China" stuff.
