【Youtube】

Could someone give me a history lesson onwhat happened in the 80s in Egypt?

Mourad Aheddar
the settlement of Israeli European jews in Palestineand the rise of Western occupation and military action in the region for oilraised a sentiment of Islamic revival already existing in the hearts remindspeople of those times of crusades and persecution people felt they must fightwestern influence

There seems to be a rise of Islamism sincethe Iranian Revolution in 1979.

i am Egyptian ,no revolution happened in80s,people just tended to follow religion only

Yes, what happened in Egypt in the 80's wascalled the Islamic Revival and it was nothing like the "IslamicRevolution" that took place in Iran

semsema282
there isn't any Islamic revolution happenat Egypt all what happen Egyptians at the end of 80s beginning of 90s traveledto work at Gulf like (Qatar-Emirates-Kuwait -Saudi Arabia---------) theyinfluenced by Gulf women who strict with Islamic costume and when they returnto Egypt they kept wearing hijab and Egyptian women start to be interested moreto wear the Islamic costume , unfortunately when we start wearing hijab atEgypt that was for religious and for sake of God to represent Islam but most ofEgyptian starting from 2000 wearing hijab as a tradition so alot of Egyptiansnow take it off , nowadays you can say we 50/50 and not all the women who wearhijab in Egypt now are strict to Islamic costume most of them only put a scarfon their head , i hope if i could give you overview of what really happen inEgypt

who also just stared at her eyes the wholetime?

For Egypt shouldnt you have done like a fewthousand years of beauty?

Yvonne Mmata
She looks beautiful with a Hijab on, likeher eyes are beautiful. She also looks gergoeous without one one. Also thepictures at the end were so powerful.

HER EYES ARE SO BEAUTIFUL!!!

I love the end when they show all thosepicture for them fighting for peace

They were spared from the 80s

Scary how religion can change women fashionand lifestyle Edit: when i say scary i dont mean "become ugly",im talking about the changes, women are still beautiful with or without hijabs

does anyone know why in 1910-20 theycovered their heads, and then in the 1930s-70s they didn't, and then 1980s-nowthey cover them again? thee same thing happened in the Iran video. Didsomething happen, or am i just stupid?

maisto
During the 70s, waves of Egyptians went tothe Arab Gulf for work, got influenced by the religious lifestyle of peoplethere. When they came back to Egypt, there was a clash between them and thecommunist movement that was so powerful at the time, but not for so long as youcan see

Actually I just did a presentation on this.1910s+ was moderate Islam and basically as time passed they became more lenientwhich is why they let go of the hijabs at one point however right when Nasserdied in the 1970s a radical extreme shouldnt be a branch of Islam called"Wahhabism" spread to Egypt from migrations along with thegovernment, thus leading to the FGM and restrictive/secluded society theyexperienced up until 2011. What im telling you is, you aren't stupid. Just lookup what Wahhabism is in Egypt and you’ll learn a ton.

I Hope they can dress more like the30,40,50,60 or 70ties in the future!

Mik Egal As an Egyptian girl I see thatit's not sad because the difference between 1910/20 and from 80 to now is thatit is our own decession to wear or not I don't and my parents are okay but backthen you must wear it.so I don't think it's sad it's our beautifulculture

Mik Egal

I love that these videos give you a windowonto the history and politics of the country at the time. It's really cool.

Why in 1980 muslim fashion again? after 50years of western styles...

manar magdi
it's because egypt used to be ruled by aturkish leader..king Farouq..and thats why they had western styles..btw thesestyles(most of them) weren't all western tho

indeed
the middle east was not Muslim for 100s ofyears its only in the past 40 that it became primarily Muslim

Mado
In 1980 Egypt was more of a religiouscountry, so Hijab became very popular

EthnicallyMixed
Women being forced to cover their face inthe Middle East is not empowerment. It's oppression. See how Egypt modernisedall the way up until the 1980s, after the Islamic Revolution. Fair play it's achoice for some women but defiantly not for all.

Dayna Abel
A lot of Muslim women wear the hijabbecause THEY WANT TO. Don't assume oppression automatically.
