1. Malaysia = Brother
Culture Thieves, love to claim the culture that they do not really have. Island Thieves, acquired Sipadan Island, Ligitan Island, etc.
We used to send teachers there in 20th century and now many students go abroad there to learn. Simply said that Indonesia and Malaysia are just like brothers who always helped each other but also often fight each other.

文化窃贼，喜欢声称他们并不是真正拥有的文化属于他们。岛屿窃贼，夺走了西巴丹岛，利吉丹岛等。

2. Singapore = The Playground
Indonesia's playing ground. It is where some of the richest and many upper middle class spend their holiday when they got bored here in Indonesia. The name of "The Red Dot" used to be so popular when referring to Singapore. One of the greatest example that Indonesia should learn from.

3. Brunei = Small but Rich Sultanate
Mini version of Saudi Arabia that have no desert but plenty of rainforest. Expensive street foods and rarely heard of here

4. Philippines = Asia's USA
Damn great singers. The Asia's USA because they are very fluent in English, and they also often hit by typhoon. More or less have same problems with Indonesia (traffic, bad infrastructure, poverty, corruption, etc.)

5. Myanmar = 'Coming Out' Country
Aung San Suu Kyi, we used to help each other like trading in rice and strategic commodities. People there quite evil to "kick out" Rohingya clan and let them lost in the middle on the sea. These Rohingya then arrived in Indonesian beaches and share painful stories about their life. Many amazing Buddhist temple. Still quite a mystery for me but their move in opening up for investment and international press makes this country less blurry compared with the condition decades ago.

5.缅甸='走出来'国家

6. Vietnam = Bustling Country
A next rival in development. Both countries are very ambitious in getting foreign direct investment. They carry unexpected things on their motorcycle. It is a very disorganized country but somehow showing great progress.

7. Thailand = Beauty
The champion of Seagames, always acquire most of the medals. Great tourism industry and somehow become a magnet of foreign tourists. Beautiful ladies, but unfortunately the drag queen is also beautiful (for the one who do the cosmetics surgery) so we have to be careful when we see beautiful Thai women :( Their accent sounds hilarious here. Beaches here are so wonderful, the vibe of Buddhism temples around make this place so calm and sincere. Oh! One last thing, they have some of the greatest Asian horror movies.

7.泰国=美丽
东南亚运动会的冠军，总是获得大部分奖牌。热火朝天的旅游业，像一块磁铁一样吸引着外国游客。有美丽的女士，但不幸的是，变装皇后也很美（就是那些做过整形手术的人妖），所以当看到漂亮的泰国女人时，我们必须小心（说不定对方不是女的）:(。他们的口音听起来很搞笑。佛教寺庙让这个地方变得如此平静和虔诚！最后一样，他们有一些最好的亚洲恐怖电影。

8. Cambodia = One Step Backward
The Pol Pot regime that killed some of the country's most geniuses really put this country on a stagnant improvement until now. They are very unpopular here, even when people heard the word Kamboja (Indonesian pronounce of Cambodia), most of them referred to a flower named Kamboja.

8.柬埔寨=落后一步

9. Laos = Landlocked Country, The Future Powerhouse
They have no sea region, but they want to turn Mekong River into dams that generate electricity and will export it throughout the neighbouring countries. In one side, it will boost the country's economic that known for its severe poverty level but in the other side, those dams will also endangered all ecosystems along the Mekong River.

10. East Timor = Neither an enemy nor a friend
I don't see the country as a part of South East Asia, but some answers here classified the country as SE Asia. However, East Timor is a separatist who thrown away their opportunity to develop under Indonesia government. The relationship that i can imagine between both countries are just like friends who faced really bad problems and after some time they forget about the problem but there is still awkward feeling between them because their last conversation quite hurtful to each other

10.东帝汶=既不是敌人也不是朋友
我认为这个国家不是东南亚的一部分，但这里的一些答案将该国划分为东南亚国家。然而，东帝汶是一个分离主义者，他们抛弃了在印度尼西亚政府下发展的机会。我可以想象两国之间的关系就像是朋友，也面临过非常糟糕的问题，过了一段时间他们也就忘记了这个问题，但是他们之间仍然存在尴尬的感觉，因为他们最后的谈话相互伤害了对方。

No hurt feelings, right? Overall, I see South East Asia as the next superpowers that will develop way much further :)

I haven't travelled much in SEA so below are my assumptions based on what Vietnamese news often cover.

我没有在很多东南亚国家旅行过，所以下面是我根据越南新闻经常报道的内容推断的。

Laos: famous for forest resources. Laos used to be Vietnam's ally but now somehow turns to China. Laos people are known for being friendly and very honest.
Cambodia: Another brother who we helped (sorry if it's offensive but that's what Vietnamese people are taught - we helped rescue Khmer people from Pol Pot) and was so poor. Generally Vietnamese felt a bit superior to Laos and Cambodia but nows the news says that we need to be cautious as you guys are heading before us in ways many industries.

老挝：以森林资源而闻名。老挝曾经是越南的盟友，但现某种程度上转向中国了。老挝人民以友善和诚实着称。
柬埔寨：我们帮助过的另一个兄弟（如果这么说令你感觉冒犯的话对不起，但这就是越南人被教授的东西- 我们从波尔布特那里帮助拯救了高棉人）并且非常贫穷。一般来说，越南人对老挝和柬埔寨感觉有点优越，但是新闻说我们需要保持谨慎，因为你们的许多行业正在超过我们。

Thailand: our rival in many fields, especially tourism and agriculture. Old people always told us: Siam was way behind us in the previous time but now it's the opposite. Thai products are of good quality with reasonable prices, chosen by many caregivers as an alternative to Chinese products. Bangkok is the popular destination for Vietnamese tourists. They really know how to get money from service and tourism.
Myanmar: Burma was once a mysterious place to us but now it seems to be the new travel destination for young people. Not much information about this country, just a fear that they may gain popularity and wealth like Thailand one day.

泰国：我们在许多领域的竞争对手，尤其是旅游业和农业。老人们总是告诉我们：暹罗在过去的时间里落后于我们，但现在却恰恰相反。泰国产品质量好，价格合理，被许多护理人员选为它们作为中国产品的替代品。曼谷是越南游客的热门目的地。他们真的知道如何从服务业和旅游业中赚钱。
缅甸：缅甸曾经是一个神秘的地方，但现在它似乎成为年轻人的新旅游目的地。没有多少关于这个国家的信息，只是比较担心他们可能有一天会像泰国一样既有知名度又能挣钱。

Philippines: Our storm-barrier (sorry bro). We know that Philippines is ahead us in economy but haven’t yet grown a feeling of jealousy and rivalry like that with Thailand. Maybe because you're a sea apart and have quite a different culture to us.
Malaysia: We know that you're more developed than Thailand, but much poorer than Singapore.
Singapore: the luxury vacation destination, the shining model for Vietnam to follow in economic development, the example of a green and clean environment.

菲律宾：于我们而言是风暴般的障碍（对不起了兄弟）。我们知道菲律宾在经济上领先我们，但（对你）还没有像对泰国那样产生嫉妒和敌对的感觉。也许是因为你是在另一片海域里，与我们有着截然不同的文化。
马来西亚：我们知道你比泰国发达，但比新加坡差得多。
新加坡：豪华度假胜地，越南在经济发展中应该学习的光辉榜样，环保清洁的典范。

Brunei: We don't know much about you apart from being a very rich country by oil, with monarchy.
Indonesia: volcanoes, many islands, even higher population than Vietnam, Bali the paradise, Muslim country - they are what popped up in my mind.

文莱：除了因为石油和君主制成为一个非常富裕的国家之外，我们对你的了解不多。

I'm Malaysian, I'll try my best to answer for Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam since I've been to Thailand and Vietnam.

我是马来西亚人，因为我去过泰国和越南，所以我尽量回答一下对泰国，柬埔寨和越南的印象。

Thailand-In my opinion the best neighbours.  Wonderful beaches, relaxed attitude, plus we're connected by rail too.  The only thing not to like is the volatile politics, and over-commercialised tourist spots (I'm looking at you Phuket).

泰国 - 在我看来是最好的邻居。美妙的海滩，轻松自在的态度，再加上我们两国还通过铁路连接起来。唯一不喜欢的是不稳定的政治和过度商业化的旅游景点（看你们的普吉岛）。

Vietnam-The first time I was there we had just beaten them 1-0 in the SEA Games football, so we had tons of Vietnamese praising our football skills (c'mon guys that was lucky).  Vietnam is like that neighbour you have who has French blood somewhere---Saigon/HCM City is  a bustling economic hub and also one where you can spot a motorcycle tsunami.  Friendly people, relaxed, and I still crave for a good bow of Pho every morning.  What not to like?  Hmm the single-party system but that's their local politics.  Other than that, I have had nothing but good treatment from the locals, especially when I needed new spectacles after mine got washed away at the beach---A shop did mine within 3 hours and threw in some lens cleaner soap for free.

越南 - 我第一次去那里的时候，我们刚好在东南亚运动会足球比赛中以1比0击败他们，所以有大量的越南人称赞我们的足球技术（拜托大家，那是幸运啦）。越南就像你身边有法国血统的邻居---西贡/胡志明市是一个繁华的经济中心，你也可以发现那里就是摩托车的海洋。人们很友善，轻松愉快，我现在仍然渴望每天早上都能享受一碗美味的越南河粉。有什么不喜欢的？嗯，单党制吧，但这是他们当地的政治。除此之外，我从当地人那里得到了很好的待遇，特别是在我的眼镜在海滩上被冲走后，需要新的的时候---一家商店在3小时内就能给我提供了新的，还免费给了一些镜片清洁剂。

Cambodia-Now I haven't been there, but lots of Cambodian ladies work as domestic helpers in Malaysia.  Generally they are not very well thought of, seen as lazy or uneducated--Well the uneducated bit is true and really is no cause for discrimination, especially when you consider that the Khmer Rouge happened.  Personally, my family has had 2 Cambodian helpers, neither of them we parted on good terms--the first got influenced by her family to not return to Malaysia after we let her go back for a visit, but during her time with us she was pretty good and willing to learn.  She still keeps in contact with my mum--last we heard she found a stable job in a factory so good for her!  The second helper, *coughs* ran probably what is the most elaborate long term house robbery ops.  She quietly hid the stuff she wanted to bring home in nooks and crannys, and we were shocked when we checked her bags on the day she was supposed to leave:  Things she took included nice pictures from pages of books she ripped out of, and nice clothing.  Needless to say Mum doesn't like the Cambodians much now.

柬埔寨 – 目前我还没去过那里，但有很多柬埔寨女人在马来西亚当佣人。一般来说，讲到他们并没有很好的印象，他们被认为是懒惰的或没有受过教育的 –好吧没有受过教育这一点是真的，但真的没有歧视他们的理由，特别是你考虑到红色高棉的发生。就我个人而言，我的家人有过两名柬埔寨助手，这两人我们都没有能相处好 - 第一个是受到她家人的影响，我们让她回家探望之后她后不回马来西亚了，但在她陪伴我们的那段时间里，她还是很不错的，乐于学习。她现在仍然与我的妈妈保持联系 - 最后我们听说她在一个对她来说很好的工厂里找到了一份稳定的工作！第二名助手，*咳咳*她大概长期以来都在最精心策划一个室内抢劫案吧。她悄悄地把自己想要带回家的东西放在角落里和缝隙里，我们在她应该离开的那天检查她的行李时，我们都震惊了：她带走的东西包括被她撕走的书页中看到的漂亮照片，漂亮的衣服。毋庸置疑，我妈妈现在不喜欢柬埔寨人了。

Bonus: Singapore
Friendly rivals, similar english slang, when a Malaysian and Singaporean lepaks together at a mamak you won't be able to tell us apart.  Also they have a good public transport system which we sorely lack--Guys we want your MRT please.

再说一个：新加坡
友好的竞争对手，有相似的英语俚语，当一个马来西亚和新加坡人在一个mamak一起聊天，那你就分不开我俩了。另外他们有很好的公共交通系统，这是我们所缺乏的 – 老兄，我们想要你们那样的捷运。
