China overnight bullet trains now have a new category of soft sleepers referred to as "capsule sleepers". These are individual sleeping compartments. These individual sleepers can be found on overnight D trains. On these trains, the speed has been reduced to make sure that travellers get a full night of sleep.These are available on overnight D trains between Beijing and Shanghai, Shenzhen and Beijing, Shenzhen and Shanghai, Guangzhou and Beijing and Guangzhou and Shanghai.

The train is far superior to air travel in China (in most cases) and these new trains look MUCH more comfortable to the older sleeper cars.
It is a wonderful way to save time and money (on a hotel) and arrive at your destination in the early AM and hit the ground running.

nice train, and china has someg long distances so overall a very nice idea. Also i love how the train cruises at 150km/h  a speed dreamed of for us in australia where we get to maybe see 100km/h with an average of less likely lol

Can you pull the curtain, pull down the shade and then turn out the light?  Now, you know if they had that in the US some a-hole will be playing their music super loud through headphones but everyone will be able to hear it, and people will be having sex in there... That's why we can't have nice things in America.

I travel once every other year back from the US of A to China to visit grandparents. I’ve loved the comfort of sleeping on overnight trains and the speed of the high speed trains. This is honestly a dream, the reduced speed is a bit disappointing but to be honest it’s really impossible to have both without compromise.

It would be more good if full country,  from East to West & North to South will linked by these coaches. Then it would be very comfortable journey for their normal people & travellers.☺

What a civilized way to travel, you get a similar amount of space as you would flying First Class with any major airline. Your own private pod with a lay flat bed and more than enough space for all your clobber. Bet its also much much cheaper.

Wow. I have been living in China for 4 years and have never seen these before! I never knew they even existed! I only know of the slower sleeper trains on the Z train/K Train.

it is very considerate for them to lower the speed so the journey will be longer to allow people have enough sleeping time. I certainly don't want to arrive in the destination at 4am. kudos to China railway.

High speed trans continental bullet train is impossible in the USA, though a boon to majority people as well as US economy, ... it is to be rejected (through democratic process) by many powerful groups (with lots of $$), and a handful of powerful people representing them.  Simply put, the interests of those are to be eroded if there is a trans continental bullet train rail:
1. Airplane makers
2. Car makers
3. Energy (Oil, Gas, ..) companies
4. .....
Thus, democracy, in this regard, impedes the progress of a society.
