Why are so many questions on Quora about the Chinese and China?
Quora

Many people are genuinely interested in China, and many people (not necessarily in the same set as the set mentioned before) are genuinely clueless about China. At first, I thought some people were trolls or else picking fights with Chinese, but then I realized that some people are actually clueless, and I (maybe naïvely) think they are actually interested.
This motivates me to write answers about China.
Thanks to the continuous propaganda war between "communist" China and the West, it is hard to find objective truth, even for the "non-political" things. But then again, everything can be spun politically!
As a Chinese from outside China (and Asia), and frequently exposed to all angles of a story from all the extreme views, and frequently spent time to study about China rather than study what I was supposed to, I hope to provide a somewhat unbiased opinion on matters regarding China, whether about history or geography or culture or current events.
Of course, I am human, and I am biased. But that's what Quora is for: experts with minimal bias sharing their expertise so the reader can judge for themselves.

It's the world’s most populous country and most powerful economy to-be, yet very few people outside China possess any substantial knowledge about what Chinese culture is all about, what Chinese people think and dream of, what social problems they are facing these years, how it's like to live in a communist country with capitalist characteristics, etc. Seeing that a growing number of Chinese people are active on Quora it's a great source for getting interesting opinions and information without political filter.

Originally Answered: Why are there so many questions about China? Is it because there are so many people interested in China or because there are so many Chinese people pouring into Quora?
I noticed about a year ago there were a large number of questions being asked about China with few answers from Chinese people. While since then the number of Sina-related questions has grown, the number of Chinese users has grown much, much more.
In other words, many people on Quora have a general interest in China, but the powerbase of answers came from Western users. Within the last year, more Chinese have been answering questions, but I don't think they are yet asking questions in large numbers. This may be because of the language barrier although many Chinese aren't afraid to write answers, regardless of grammar or punctuation mistakes. I've tried zhihu and frankly it's intimidating until my Chinese improves.

Well, quite obviously, because there is a lot of interest about China in the world. China is the world's second largest economy, the most populous country, and one of the largest countries in the world in terms of square miles. As such, everything that China does, and everything that affects China, affects the world -- either directly and indirectly. If you care even a little bit about the direction the world is headed, you're a fool if you don't pay attention to China and learn all you can about China.
But even if you don't, it has to be said that China has a rich multifaceted history and culture that is fascinating and can lead to a lifetime of stimulating study and enjoyment. Whether you're interested in food, current Chinese pop-culture trends, an enormously vast and deep history, the martial arts, philosophy, film, traditional music, traditional medicine, art, or scenic beauty, China has much to offer.
Quorans recognize this.

Quora

Originally Answered: Why are there so many questions refer to China on Quora?
My personal opinion.
It is happening because of the nature of the content we get about China in the mainstream media - CPC, Hong Kong protests etc.
Personally, I have little interest in any of those.
I am interested in how people live in China, what kind of jobs do they find or want to find, what kind of products do they buy, how do they start businesses, what do they learn and what do they want to learn.
Mikhail Kotykhov's answer to Why does the media block away the truth about China?
That's why I have to ask these questions on Quora, I simply can't find much about it in the mainstream media.
