My brother had to have his ear wax flushed by a  doctor a few times.. I've never had it done.  
Things like this always make me think maybe I  should?Do people typically need a 'professional'  cleaning once in awhile? Am I not hearing up to  my ultimate potential? How do you know for sure?  ... Weird thing to worry over..

Lucky. I just have gelatinous fluid behind my  eardrums I'm pretty sure, as it would be the  second time. I've had tubes put in twice, and  I've had my tonsils and adenoids removed. The  adenoids were removed twice; they grew back. I'd  go see a specialist again but I'm a college  student with no money and I live in America.  Life sounds like I'm underwater.

I had a nasty case of Bronchitis last year that went on for about 3 months. One day I woke up and couldn’t hear out of my left ear. So I went to Patient First, they pulled out a thing of wax about 2-3x that size. Hurt like a bitch, but felt so much relief when they got it out.
