Whatcountries will you never visit again?
Nagarjuna K, worked at Cisco (2011-2015)
I visited 10countries till now. The one i am definitely not going to visit again is Chile.
I spent 2 weeksin Chile at the expense of a visit to Brazil. I chose it for three reasons - AtacamaDesert, Patagonia Region and ITS PEOPLE. Many blogs i read andtravelers i spoke to, stated great things about how friendly and accommodatingthe people were.
The AtacamaDesert is an amazing spot. I dropped my idea to Patagonia visit since i dintexpect it to be freezing in August. No regrets for this. But it is the peopleof Santiago who have disappointed me the most.
Were they racist, violent? Not at all.
What pissed meoff the most is their non-receptive and cold nature towards strangers.
I do not think itis their mistake. I believe they are just introverts as a society on a whole.Walk through a crowded market in Santiago or a monument - people just murmur, take a metro - its pin drop silence. You will not hear a loud laugh or achatter. Ask someone something and you wont get any useful responses. As a solotraveler i felt this silence and introverted politeness unbearable.
Though i havesome knowledge of travel-spanish, it did not help that their accent isdifferent to Mexican spanish.
There might besome who might have like the place. But after a trip to exuberant countrieslike Mexico and Cuba, Chile trip proved a disaster. 2 weeks in the country, myonly comfort was friends at hostel and a 3 day visit to Atacama Desert.
Just like a verynice but emotionally unreceptive person makes a bad life-partner, Chile boredme to death in spite of its beautiful landscapes and polite people.
Edit 1:
I always comeback to this answer to read the comments section.

I would rateLuxembourg as a top candidate for a country that I wouldn’t visit again. I wasliving near Frankfurt for half a year and visited Luxembourg with a group offriends for a weekend. It was a trip from the south of the country, thenreaching the capital and travelling north to Vianden castle.
I should say theplaces looked good, historic, a blend of French and German tastes in most ofthe aspects. The modern city that is now attracting bankers and money men is instark contrast with the rest of the country- Glass structures and tallerbuildings.
However, whatthis place lacks is- Liveliness. The 72 hours i spent in the country, it lookeddull and uninspiring. It was as if the whole place lacked energy and spice. Wewere Bored.
The trains werehalf empty, the restaurants were looking dull and the people were unresponsive.Adding to all of this the prices that we had to pay for staying in a Hostel, food made it worse.

Egypt, particularly Cairo, though granted I went there almost 10 years ago when I wasa teen. Loved the pyramids and the Red Sea, disliked any city areas. Theinfrastructure is clearly very old and not maintained - there is a lot ofgarbage around. In semi-tourist areas there was also a lot of catcalling andunwelcome advances by the many men standing around the shops (I was about 15, Iwore long pants and a t shirt sometimes with a cardigan everyday, as did therest of the women in our group out of respect for the conservative customs). They would pretty much grab you off the street into their store and “help” youtry on things - A LOT of touching involved. Rejection is not exactly understoodand they have a strong grip. There was a general sense of unease and our guidesspecified to us constantly that we should be careful of our belongings and forthe women not to wander off alone. The food also made many in our group unwell, but I would hesitate to knock the food as it much depends on personaltolerance.
It is the mostuneasy I have felt in another country, and I have travelled extensively.Probably the most similarly associated country I have been to is Turkey, butIstanbul and its people were wonderful.

Ian Sawyer, As ofSept 2016 I've visited a total of 49 different countries.

OriginalQuestion: What country would you never return to?
I don’t even needto think about this, and there are two countries involved:
Sudan and Yemen.
It was many yearsago I visited both of them, and even back then they were dangerous, dirty, flyblown and primitive places. There aren’t many countries you can visit whereyou need a Kalashnikov-carrying armed guard with you when you go out…
And since then? They’ve both just gone further and further downhill. A great shame becausethere are, or at least there were, some wonderful places to see in bothcountries, but what do you expect when you’ve got psychopathic religiousfanatics who don’t seem to give a damn about anything or anyone but themselves, running the country.
Ian Sawyer,

Croatia
This might comeas a surprise to many but yes, I shall never visit Croatia again.
Reasons:
Croatia isclearly not ready for such a massive tourists influx. Zagreb’s airport, trainstation & bus station look like they are from the 19th century. Thetransport system is not ready to take on so many people. (I am from India &I had expected better transport facility from an European country)
Dubrovnik’s buses are always crowded. If you’re fromMumbai or visited Mumbai ever in life, imagine the B.E.S.T. buses during peakhours - That’s how crowded the buses in Dubrovnik are. But my main problemcomes in the next point.
Racism. I went to3 cities in Croatia - Zagreb, Dubrovnik & Split. Zagreb& Dubrovnik were the worst ones. Locals see tourists (Especially the brown& black ones) with disgrace. They will not talk to you properly, won’t helpyou, try to rip you off in a shop or simply ignore by signaling that they arenot interested. It feels bad when we have to witness this in 2016.
Another incidenthappened during our bus to Dubrovnik from Zagreb. We were stopped mid-way whilecrossing the border of Bosnia & Herzegovina. The bus was full yet only ourpassports were taken (Because we weren’t white?). My friend was asked to getdown. The police asked him to get his luggage from the bus, open it in front ofthem. They asked him bluntly to show them drugs that he might be carrying.
I would’ve beenfine with the random checking but it was the bus driver (Croatian) who kept onsaying things to the police officer & he kept on harassing my friend fornearly 20 minutes. After they didn’t find anything on him (because obviously),they let us go.
The only goodCroatian people I met were the AirBnb hosts in these 3 cities. That’s it.
(Also, some wisemagician took my wallet in the tram. Lost EUR 200 & the police werehopeless.)
Sorry Croatia,not again.

OriginallyAnswered: As a tourist, which city or country will you never go back to visitagain?
Can't say never, but Bangkok in Thailand is the best candidate.
Beinglight-skinned European I was constantly referred to as some sort of sex tourist(I was not) and in general the attitude of the locals was to find a way to scamthe tourist for some money. Fortunately most "artists" were notparticularly clever and the rip offs and scams were visible even withoutthinking too much. Some people were lovely and pleasant but they were aminority.
The city itselfis rather stinky and dirty with few very neat corners. Skyscrapers next toslums, traffic is heavy and chaotic, air is polluted, endless cars on thestreets, the public transportation is made of a single monorail line, everything else is on the unusable side for a foreigner. Taxis are more of ascam as well - most refuse to drive with a counter. Tuk-tuk's more often thannot agree to go only if you overpay them.
There are fewsightseeing spots which are gorgeous, but those are spoiled by the constantscammers too. Pearl shop tuk-tuks, temple is closed clowns, too heavy traffic, only 200 baht drivers and many other kinds of scammers. Ifthe locals are in so bad need for money they can simply tell and I will sparewhat I can. Scamming into the money is going to cause an opposite reaction.
So, no, I am notgoing to Bangkok again and not very willing to go to Thailand again, althoughsmaller cities were much more pleasant.
The next bestcandidate is Vladivostok in Russia.
The city itselfis located in a paradise-like place and this is the case when you can say"Paradise Lost" without a doubt. Absolutely spectacular hills withtiny bays and islands on the shore of the Sea of Japan spoiled by thesoviet-style apartment blocks, absolute lack of sense in architecture, designand pretty much anything what makes your city look good. There are few ArtNouveau buildings and some of them are destroyed by glass annex.
The publictransportation consists of incredibly dirty and cramped buses, which are slowas well, the locals are not super friendly too, so not really an option for atourist. Reminded Bangkok very much.
The city is dirtytoo. You can see drink cans, bottles, papers and what not laying right on theasphalt and no one seem to care too much.
Most sightseeingconsists of numerous soviet monuments, which are as fun as sitting on the couchand observing a wall. There's one place up on the hill where you can see thewhole city or rather the whole paradise-like area destroyed by the city.
Really sad place.
