BEIJING (Reuters)- At least four Western countries took the unusual step on Thursday of issuingChristmas security warnings for Westerners in a popular Beijing diplomatic andentertainment district as police stepped up patrols.

Let me shed somelight. China is much safer than the US. I lived there for years and years.There are no guns whatsoever. The most you will run into is aggressive drunkchinese guys in bars that get mad that westerners are with their women. I thought it wasgoing simple straightforward article until it added that young people sawChristmas as a "sophisticated" Western Custom. No they don't see itas a sophisticated western anything. It's a commercial holiday, meant to enticefamilies to get into shopping and gift giving. There's nothing complicatedabout it. Millions of Chinese celebrate it along with the Winter Solstice sincethey are generally days away from each other. The writers needs to getthemselves off that high horse and report news not make conjectures.
