China's Belt and Road Initiative is the most ambitious infrastructure project in modern history. It spans over 60 countries and will cost over a trillion dollars. The plan is to make it easier for the world to trade with China, by funding roads, railways, pipelines, and other infrastructure projects in Asia and Africa. China is loaning trillions of dollars to any country that's willing to participate and it's been a big hit with the less democratic countries in the region. This makes the BRI a risky plan as well. But China is pushing forward because its goals are not strictly economic, they're also geopolitical.

中国的一带一路倡议是现代历史上最雄心勃勃的基础设施项目，跨越了60个国家，花费超过一万亿美元。该计划通过在亚洲和非洲投资修建公路、铁路、管道和其它基础设施项目，目的是为了让世界更容易与中国开展贸易。中国借给任何愿意参与一带一路的国家数万亿美元，这在该地区较不民主的国家中大受欢迎，也让一带一路成为一个有风险的计划。但中国正在推进这项倡议，因为其目标不完全跟经济有关，也跟地缘政治有关。

Not schools but private private academies. And not a bad idea since we will doing most of our trade with them and they are our neighbor too. Compulsory english needs to be dripped from schools

china doesn't need these countries to pay back , they know they can't , they are using them as stepping stones to create a trade network made to their own convenience , hosting the routes china needs is the only payback they want , and unless the Chinese economy collapses you won't see them seriously demanding money , even if they do it would be to apply pressure and make these countries comply to their demands.

silvervixen007 your damn right there-China is playing the long game and if it pays off she will reap a lot of rewards. I’m from the U.K. and we did something vaguely similar (although not anywhere near as stealthy-no need to back in the industrial revolution I guess), by making sure we controlled trade routes-we did it by force but China is doing it with money but if it works China will be in a very favourable position. And we in the West have had a large hand in making this happen due to our greed and desire for cheap manufacturing.
