A suspected bomb attack in Laos killed two Chinese citizens and injured one more, Beijing's official news agency Xinhua said Monday.

中国官方的新华社周一报道称，老挝发生疑似炸弹袭击，致使中国公民两死一伤。

The world's second-largest economy has been pouring money into the sleepy Southeast Asian nation, a fellow Communist state, over the last several years and became its largest investor in 2014.

Xinhua identified one of the victims as an employee of a Chinese mining company operating in the mountainous centre of the country.

The victims were on board a vehicle when the incident happened on Sunday, it cited the Chinese embassy in Vientiane as saying.

I went to Laos - such a beautiful country! But it looks like everything is being built by chinese or maybe Vietnamese workers. Why don't they hire Laotian workers to build all those nice temples and buildings? The government is not doing enough to help the local population. It is just taking money from foreign companies and letting them run the show there.

Why does the writer of this article feel the need to describe Laos as a "sleepy Southeast Asian nation". The company that I work for  has been doing business in Laos since 2000 and I have been there more times than I can remember and it is not "sleepy". Also, the USA was never at war with Laos. The USA dropped bombs along the border targeting the NVA supply lines.
