Mexican authorities arrested Chinese passenger after strong smell emanating from suitcases led to discovery he was transporting body parts from hundreds of endangered fish. Mexico City police found 416 totoaba swim bladders, prized for their purported rejuvenating qualities.

So I live in China. Here's my question for everyone:
Do you hunt or know any hunters? If the answer is yes, after you/they kill the deer, what do you do with the penis? Do you just throw it out?
Deer penis goes for at least $120 a pop on Taobao. I've even seen high quality deer penis get over $600 per penis. And honestly? A wild, free range American deer penis would probably get in that upper range there.
So if you're looking at a deer penis and wondering "what should I do with this?" Salt it, dry it, I'll smuggle it to China and we'll split the proceeds 50/50.

A RICH Chinese person uses the logic the rarer and more expensive the fish, the bettter the result. Because everything else that is "exclusive(rare)" and expensive is better, like cars, handbags, art etc. Expensive and rare = better.

CTM says "use fish bladder". Rich person "Expensive and Rare Fish Badder is better than Cheap and Common Fish Bladder". Then 1 rich person gets rare mexican fish bladder, who tells their rich friend who ALSO wants it cause image is important, and then it cascades.

Then poorer Chinese see the famous rich people using rare expensive fish bladder and assume, because the rich people are better off than them (from their point of view) it must work better and save up to get it as well.

That's how a fish nowhere near China "becomes" part of Chinese Traiditon Medicine...when most CTM practitioners would tell them the common carp is probably better...except when the rich people tell those "doctors" to source the "better" ingredient and offer to pay them.

So basically it comes down to the stupidity of the filthy rich and the greed of those who supply them.
