A new rival bus line Megurin began operating on April 27 with some routes overlapping those of Ryobi and offering a cheaper fare. If that all wasn’t bad enough, Megurin buses have cute little faces too.

I live in a smaller city in Australia and our bus drivers do this. Essentially if there is a strike you work out whether you have to pay or not by what the driver is wearing. As the drivers legally cannot tell you to fare evade, the sign is if they are in casual clothes rather than uniform, don't bother paying.

Police not issuing stupid fines is a good thing. Police departments and governments shouldn't be so dependent on fines as income that taking those fines away is a good bargaining chip for police unions.
