Beijing (AFP) - China's imports from Africa fell nearly 40 percent last year, officials said Wednesday, as low commodity prices and slowing growth in the Asian giant hit trade.

北京（法新社）——中国从非洲的进口在去年几乎下跌40%，官员周三称，商品价格低以及中国经济放缓导致对贸易产生了影响。

Imports from the continent fell to 440 billion yuan, some 38 percent lower than in 2014, China's Customs administration said.

中国从非洲的进口下跌到4400亿元，比2014年低38%，中国海关称。

Natural resources from Africa such as iron ore and oil have helped fuel China's economic boom, and it became the continent's largest trade partner in 2009, giving it growing diplomatic influence.

But growth in the world's second-largest economy has slowed to its lowest since the aftermath of the global financial crisis, punishing world prices for commodities -- the bedrock of African exports.

Economists say Chinese growth is becoming less dependent on heavy industry, further hitting demand for raw materials.

However, Chinese exports to Africa rose by about 4 percent to reach 670 billion yuan, officials said.

Nice made up numbers but China trading with Africa dropped 4% in exports and 21% in imports, while the US goods exports to Africa were up to 6.9% but dropped 20.8% in imports.

the reason is very simple: more Chinese firms are opening factories or other facilities in Africa. There is not need to import the raw materials.

With western media's instigation, some Africans really think China has been robbing them and start new demands for better deals including technology transfer etc. though they have not yet attained the level of knowledge for their aspiration.
