It’s frustrating growing up in the US as an ABC - you’re constantly bombarded with those terribly uncreative jokes about Chinese people. Between the “ching chong ling long” calls, the “Made in China” jeering, and of course the “dirty commie” jokes, there’s not much an ABC can do. Many of us decide to break from our Chinese background in an effort to appease others, which leads to anti-Chinese ABCs getting a disproportionate voice and social standing. It’s a shame, but that is the typical ABC that the other answers observe.
For those of us who decide that being Chinese is an inseparable part of our identity, we generally view the ascendancy of the PRC as a good thing. It will probably take 30–50 years before Americans view China less like an enemy/adversary (since baby boomers are currently in power and they are usually too old to change their worldviews), but we have high hopes for what comes after.
In our day-to-day lives, we are enjoying the increasing availability of quality Chinese goods/groceries. Our coworkers are becoming increasingly curious about China, so there are less headaches about misinformation. The Chinese language schools are also getting better, with far fewer cases of volunteer teachers who really have no teaching skills. And of course visiting China is much nicer - the visas are more flexible, the flights more frequent with fewer layovers, and the cities of our relatives are constantly changing (so it’s quite exciting each time).
Of course, this is all disregarding the obvious prospect of being a cultural bridge between the two most powerful and wealthy countries in the world. Every ABC I know has thought about how to best take advantage of this rare opportunity - even the ones who have distanced themselves from their heritage.

Most Chinese-American that I know don’t really care. I am a Vietnamese-American who grew up around many ABC’s (American Born Chinese，在美国出生的华裔) and some of the students in my school are ABC’s. As far as I have experienced, most ABC’s do not really identify with China. Many do not speak their family’s Chinese dialect, or they speak a very broken version of it. They have no intentions of returning to China for any reason, be it education, family, or lifestyle.
Most ABC that I know have a very Chinese moral structure, value system, and family-relation model. In a lot of ways, they FEEL fairly Chinese. However, they just simply aren’t “Chinese”, at least most Chinese I know would not label them as such, nor would many really label themselves as such. This contrast becomes even more stark considering that most ABC’s feel the most comfortable around other ABC’s, that is to say not around other Chinese, nor other white Americans, but specifically other ABC’s.
HOWEVER, at the end of the day it really depends on the person. There are of course ABC’s who identify more with the Chinese part of their identity, though I think this mostly has to do with how they are raised. You have to remember that when a lot of Chinese immigrated over here in the last 30 years, they were coming out of the Cultural Revolution, and had no intention of EVER going back. Many Chinese who come to the US today, or over the last 10–15 years still maintain a very strong relationship with the homeland, and see the value of encouraging that amongst their children.

我所认识的大部分华裔美国人真的不关心。我是越南裔美国人，生长环境中有很多在美国出生的华裔，我学校里也有一些ABC。据我所知，大部分的ABC并不认同中国。他们不说自己家庭的中国方言，或者说得很烂。他们没打算回中国，不论是家庭，教育还是生活等原因。

我所认识的大部分ABC，拥有非常中国的道德价值观，以及家庭关系。感觉他们非常中国人，但是他们不是“中国人”，至少我所认识的大部分中国人不觉得他们是中国人。而且大部分的ABC和其他ABC在一起时最舒服，而不是和其他中国人或者和其他白人美国人在一起时最舒服。

然而，归根结底还是看个人。当然也有ABC认同自己的中国人身份，我感觉这主要是和他们的成长方式有关。过去30年来有很多中国人移民到这里，因为历史原因来到这里，没打算回去。而如今移民到美国的中国人，甚至是过去10-15年移民来的中国人依然和自己的家乡维持着强烈的关系，而且认为自己的孩子有必要和中国维持这样的关系。
