Who won the US-China trade war of 2018? The doggie in the window, arf, arf.
Trump has shown that his bark is worse than his bite, that he barks up the wrong trees, and like a dog, he can't break the habit of eating feces. Trump was the one who started the trade war, firstly threatening tariffs on steel and aluminum in support of Rick Saccone's election bid in steel heavy Pennsylvania. To his surprise, China was not the big exporter of the same to USA, so he had to walk back his tariffs--oops, wrong target. Then he launched a direct trade war threat against China, to which China reciprocated. So Trump had to bark louder, and China reciprocated again.
When China let Trump know they could soy bean him and hurt his constituents, he rushed to say that China wanted to hurt the American farmer. After all the barking, he sent his motley trade team to China with stiff demands--showing they were tough hombres. No cigar. Then Trump did an unexpected about face on ZTE, to save jobs in China, just happened to be coincident with China's investment into a $500 million Indonesia project with Trump interests. Ahem.
Now China agreed to do no more than what Xi had already announced at the BOAO Forum in April 2018, with an added statement to buy more American resources & commodities to reduce the American trade deficit.
Thus Trump can save face and boast of a victory to appease himself and his constituents, and allude to how his deal making skills averted a trade war.

中国同意履行在博鳌亚洲论坛上多做的承诺，还发表声明称会购买更多的美国资源和商品以减少美国的贸易赤字。
这样川普就可以留存面子，并向自己和自己的选民吹嘘胜利，然后暗示人们他的谈判技巧如何避免了一场贸易战。

Not really. US is indeed the winner.
Xi said China will import more. But he didn't say from which country. That agreement means China will always give US a first priority when China needs to import something. That means US ‘s opponents in trade will loose, for example Brazil and Australia. EU will loose market share in China too.

China ‘s market is still escalating rapidly. Importing 50–100 billions more from US in the near future is not impossible.

In politically correct terms …… it was a win-win.
In US political terms …… it was Trump and he needed a win badly.
In China’s POV …….. China
The full details of the agreement are yet to be disclosed, however I think we can assume some things in general.
Observations:
Trump needed a win measured in weeks and months to fit into the US news and election cycle
China wants a win over a time frame of a decade or longer
IMO both got what they wanted
Trump gets his short term political win
China will be likely be given difference by US gov’t in terms of how to increase purchase of US goods.
By purchasing $200 bn more from US industry makes US industry more reliant towards the Chinese marketplace, placing more leverage on China’s side of the balance sheet hence forth.

US media: Trump did not get any specific promises from the Chinese, nor did he stop "Made in China 2025". Trump lost. Trump is an idiot!
Chinese media: China was forced to increase its imports from the United States. China's soybean industry suffered a devastating blow! China once again signed an unequal treaty! China lost!
European media: China will increase imports from the United States. Our exports to China will enter the winter! Europe lost!
