That, at least, is the vision of Jia Yueting, a billionaire entrepreneur and one of a new breed of Chinese who see their technology expertise re-engineering the automobile industry, and usurping Tesla Motors, a U.S. pioneer in premium electric vehicle (EV) making.

The most interesting thing to note about the electric vehicle industry is that the US had the absolute GROUND FLOOR on this more than a decade ago...but decided (likely with the help of the oil lobby) to recall all the electric vehicles that were actually finding a market in major cities in the US .

As mentioned...the US had once owned the ground floor on this industry...but somebody decided that it was more beneficial to themselves (and their contributors) to keep things stagnant. Now OTHERS are building on it.

I found it interesting that Jia will be producing his cars in Nevada. A Chinese company flooding the American market with EV's will not necessarily be a bad thing if they are American made. Finally instead of jobs leaving the USA for China, the reverse will be true.

I have a sinking feeling that Tesla as well as Musk's finances are in major trouble. Tesla is having trouble scaling up to meet demand and become profitable. There are just too many car manufactures that are willing to pounce on this opportunity. Musk's real advantage is/was in the battery market. If Musk can get his mega-battery factories rolling and profitable that's where you want to invest.
China is throwing at least double what the US is in renewable technologies. China is out innovating us. If America isn't careful we will be importing next generation technology instead of exporting it. Wake up!

Their designs are butt ugly and all they have done so far is TALK,TALK,TALK, and hired that IDOT Nick Simpson from Telsa who was fired. Just like I said before , the Chinese are very good in upgrading existing technology. They don't have to event anything just make it better. So its not surprising that they are right behind the US technology achievements.

Marketing to the "cheap and disposable" consumers. Like most of our low end appliances today they are very cheap, unreliable and made to barely outlast the warranty so you can go buy another with newer technology. These cars will pile up in the scrap yards after three years and any energy they saved will be negated by the cost to dispose of the toxic carcasses. Remember the Yugo?
